Colour Question - Coveline Blue

E350 Estate (W212 Facelift)
Newby here, transferring over from another marque and waiting delivery of my new E350 Estate.

It's ordered in Coveline Blue. But this is a bit of a risk, because everywhere I see it it looks different. The big colour swatch in the showroom looked a blue-grey. The photos on the on-line configurator look like a darker grey witha hint of blue. The brochure (which is rubbish) makes it look a sort of royal blue. I've scoured the internet but the only photos look like a sparkly midnight blue, which I think is actually Canvesite Blue and they have tagged the photos wrong.

I have about 4 weeks in which to change before the build colour is committed. I've phoned every dealer within 90 minutes drive of me to see if they have an E-Class or S-class in Coveline I can go and look at, but they all say it's so new they don't have anything.

Anyone have any first hand experience or evern better, a photo?

Cheers.

The problem with checking photos on the computer is the variables involved: camera quality and computer screen quality. I suspect the exact colour will be the colour you saw at the showroom. I may be wrong though.

I should have added......... early in the hunt we saw an S-Class that looked a sort of rich, royal blue and we were told it was Covaline. No chance to go back for another look, it was a customer car now gone. Hence the confusion.

I appreciate the issue about on-screen colours, but I've a 3 monitor set-up which is pretty colour accurate when checked, so I'm reasonably happy to take it as at least indicative of where we're going to be.

There was an SLS at work in Coveline. I would describe it as a bright royal blue, not dissimilar to Tansanite blue.

It's a pearl effect colour, so the tone changes depending on available light and the viewing angle.

That is a great colour - and nothing like tanzanite blue (doom blue)

Thanks guys.

Both photos are a million miles away form the official photo on the MB configurator, which I would post if I could figure out how to do it. But all three look okay, so I'm committed now and what whatever it turns out like I'm having it.

I'll post photos in September, assuming I can figure out how to do it by then.

Doesn't look wildly different to me.

That is massively detailed - never seen Tanzanite look that good in the flesh... we used to hate it if we got it on a loaner/ bodyshop car as we couldnt give em away when they were de-fleeted.

Yeah, that looks pretty close to Cavansite to me. I've seen it on two S-Class cars, one outside and one in the back of a showroom.

Outside it looked very nice and was originally the colour of choice for the new car. But inside it was pretty lacklustre and from a distance it was almost black. When I saw one outside on a dull day it clinched it for me - just not bright enough.

Here's what MB thinks Coveline looks like, according to the German configurator page. The UK configurator is off line but at least it gives you a 360 degree sweep around the car. The colour looks the same as for the German site.

Given those colours, I'd describe it as RAF blue!

I have Tanzanite on the CL, it's in between the two top colours.

But you're still at the mercy of colour balance / saturation / bightness settings when the pictures you're viewing were taken (and/or processed).

Our Vito is the much more common Jasper Blue and even that varies quite a bit in pictures - sometimes looking almost purple!

I have an estate arriving early july if you want me to send you a picture when its delivered...if its not too late for you. I just took a punt on the colour because I like blue and was fed up with silver.

Yes please!

PM me when you get it and I'll send you an e-mail address.

Many thanks

Yeah, that's about the colour of the S-Class they said was Coveline in the showroom.

It's difficult to reconcile that with more grey-blue on the A3 sized colour swatches, but I'm reconciled to whatever shade it is will be okay.

That picture above is NOT covelline. I thought it was going to be a bright blue but I have just got my car and it is grey in some lights and purple/grey in others. It is not a bright blue at all. I am quite happy with it but it certainly was not what I expected from the online colour thingey. In fact I could swear that tyhey have swapped the online colo9ur thingey to now make cavansite look like the much bluer colour and covelline the darker/murkier colour and I would swear blind that it was the other way around when I looked.
