My car went for its first service today. (2011 Facelifted C class with Commnad Online)

I see maps are still Europe ver 4.0 (2011)

What is the latest version (google comes up with 7.0 on a German page)

If so, should they not have pdated it?


Also how do you check the Firmware for Command (I want to know is the expected PAN update has been done)

Just curious which company supplies the map data now? On my c55 comand aps with 2011 disk it shows far more info than my 2012 hard disk maps. For instance shows me offroad on places that have been there for years where as c55 map had most things correct. Its like apple to google maps!

Had my 2011 S350 done last month (1st "A" service + Update Nav.), and they put in the 2012 V7.
I had asked Mercedes Germany about the latest update, and they told me (after the work was done) that there is now a 2012 V8 available.

Have you got the free 3-year update?
And have you got the Comand NTG3.5?

S class uses a different system.

You can check firmware in engineering mode (to access press: hang up + 1 + #) but be careful not to change anything.

Along with your manual there should be a booklet about map updates. You can enter your VIN number on a website and it will tell you if there is an update available.

Dealers will update the maps even if no other work is being done on the car (they may not be that delighted about it..) I know as I had mine done after getting sick of being sent down dead ends in central London by mine.

They seem to come out every 3 months or so.

It's a good 4 hour job for the dealer as they have to put in the DVD and leave it to install. I made a habit of asking for the maps to be checked and updated whenever my car went in for even the slightest thing.

When my C350 was last in mid August, it had V7 installed so V8 is due about now.

My dealer (well the contact who replied who my queries) said they would have plugged my car and it would have shown no updates available) and the Maps version clearly says v4.0 Europe (2011)

This picture is from a facelift C350 CDI with Command Online. The car came from the factory in September 2011 with V4 installed. The photo was taken on the 26th of September 2012

You tell me if you are being fobbed off because it sounds like it to me.

As mentioned above you can find out whether you are due a map update by registering and answering the questions on the website below. IIRC it just needs your VIN but it might ask for your current map version.

Looking at it, for Comandonline, C class, the latest upgrade would appear to be: 2012/2013 V7.0, MB No. A172 827 2559, Introduction date: Sep 12.

When I told them to update mine (with 3 year update), I had to insist quite firmly in order to get it done.

That is the V5.0, which came out in Oct 2011.

I am only getting
A172 827 2569, says available since 9/2011

Took delivery of mine late March 2012. It says "2012 (V6.0) Europe"

Have you registered your Comand? If so you can go through to the document "Overview NTG ECE"

I've tried putting the link up, but this forum won't accept it (although another similar forum has no problem )

Or you can Google "Overview NTG ECE" and it should come up 1st as a pdf.
