Hello.

I am hoping someone can help. I have tried a search but I think asking maybe a quicker more relevant answer to me!

I am picking up an E500 W211 tomorrow! Yay!!!!, anyway, it’s a 2007 facelift with command. My questions are:

What command unit is this likely to be, are they all the same model fitted to this year?
How can I find out what the latest sat nav disc it has, ie what year?
If the satnav disc is old what do I search for and where for the latest discs? I know MB will do them but is there a direct seller that people use?

Thank you for your help.

Press eject on the nav unit in the boot and read the version number on the disc. My guess is that you'll have v6, whereas we're up to v12 now.

Ah, thanks. Will do!

Ive just been here,

satnavi.com, disks are £39.99. Is this a good site or too cheap to be true?

The latter. These are euphemistically sold as "back-up copies" - they're trying to circumvent the law by offering you copies of the disc you already have. Genuine discs run from about £150 (some Baltic states guy on eBay who has a good reputation) to £220 (dealer) for current versions. Some people suggest that burned copies (as opposed to pressed originals) stress the nav unit more, potentially leading to early failure.

Hi, thanks Troon.

I thought £39.99 was too cheap. I'll ask at the Mercedes dealers and buy an OE copy if I need to.

You can buy a genuine new boxed one from Comand Online. Richard and Alfie (Comand Online) are well respected members on here and you need have no fear buying from them. It'll be the same disc you'd buy from MB, but for less money.

Tell them you want it updated before you pay for the car. that''l have them jumping through hoops

No they dont and if you bothered to read the other posts on this thread you will see they arent selling genuine discs.

I picked up an ad tag for this company on a thread, so how does that work.

^^^^ This is a well known forum, so it's constantly being viewed by traders of all "reputations". It costs nothing to join, but there are, quite rightly, restrictions on commercial activities and advertising. Tagging is a fairly recent feature, and can be done by any member regardless of post count. It's not beyond the bounds of possibility for a dodgy trader to see an opportunity while trawling the forums, join and leave his 'calling card' in tags everywhere.

Thanks for that Stratman. I can see two ad boxes on this thread but now you've explained I understand. Thought I had a bug or something in my phone when I was told they didn't advertise on this forum.
