Considering a W211 E55K

Would a 134k mile car put anyone off?

The car is listed as having full MB service history and 523bhp.

nope, its about average mileage now considering these cars are now 12-15 years old!

Not necessarily but I choose my cars more on condition and history than mileage. The price should reflect that mileage.
Be aware that the suspension components will be pretty tired at that mileage unless they have been previously changed.

Having a FMBSH isn't anything special for me as its not unheard of the dealers missing or failing to do jobs, but its better than Joe Bloggs's backstreet joint:D
I'd rather a good indy history, but it does show the owner doesn't mind spending ££'s on the car at a main dealer.

Regarding the claimed 523bhp, you'd need a dyno printout to confirm, and even then the figures don't always add up. Ask what work has been done to get that extra 40+bhp. Not sure a map on its own would give that and an 83mm pulley and map should give 540-550.

If you have driven a stock car, a mapped or pullied car will be pretty obvious.

Thanks guys.

I haven't driven a standard car. I have seen a graph but I am unsure of its origin, so I would treat it as a standard car. It has just had a major service and looks to be in decent condition in the pics but obviously that isn't the best proof. I think I may go stand in front of the car and take a look.

Hi AngryDog, If its the car im thinking of in Essex, Your more than welcome to come over to Harwich and view Brutus, dont mind taking you out for a quick spin so you can feel what a sorted one drives like before you look at the one your interested in.

I'm aprox 18 miles from Colchester. I my have the wrong end of the stick of course but the offer is there.

The car I am considering looking at has possibly had an SBC reset at some point in the last 10 months. Would this ring any alarm bells?

What does it cost for an SBC unit and replacement from an indy?

It wouldn't bother me if there had been a reset at some point.

An indy should be able to supply and fit a new pump (exchange) for under £1k
The dealers are nearer £1.5k

Thanks AMGeed. I am going to look at it tomorrow. I have a mate who is an MB Indy back up in Hull so I will get him to price me up the SBC, just in case. I reckon I will have around £4k - £4.5k to spend on the car once in my possession.

I think I'll take it to MSL or somewhere to get the map looked at as it has a pulley on it already. I want to lower it and I understand that this can be done with STAR?

Thanks. Yes MSL were likely to be the ones I'd take it to tbh. Try and get a base of how it is and then look at tuning options!

I'll put a project thread up later. What a machine it is though!!

It has a Eurocharged map and 84mm pulley. Panoramic roof, 19" alloys and split / fold seats. It's not massively specced but TBH that supercharger whine makes me for it. It just goes bat**** after 2000 rpm lol

Yep charger engages at 1,800rpm  Waiting with baited breath lol:D

Lol, it'll be up this afternoon.

How do I access the secret menu?

How do I get total closure to work?

Do you always use the parking brake? On autos I have usually just left it in park rather than use the parking brake as well. It's taking some getting used to lol.

When I start the car a/c is off. Can I default this to on?

Loads of different ways : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FAP3TvZuMM&t=13s

I think you press and hold the lock button on the fob for total closure

Its advisable to use the parking brake aswell as putting it in Park just incase the car gets nudge in a carpark or summit, as it can damage the gearbox.

Err A/c im not sure, ive always got mine on as it can dry the seals out if you only use it now and again.

Quick pic should be attached
