Cream Cloth W210 E Class Interior Valet

This isn't a 'How to' thread as I was was pushed for time on this one, but shows what you can achieve with with a few basic cleaning materials probably located somewhere in your home.

Henry the Hoover
Brushes
All Purpose Cleaner (I used Flash on this diluted about 4 - 1. Four parts water one part Flash)
Cloths

I think doing before and after shots will be better than showing the dirty ones then the clean ones.

You'd start by removing all the mats, then a good half hour to an hour just hoovering if it's bad like this one. Put the front seats right forward when doing the rear and right back when doing the front so you can gain access easily. Use a Detailing brush or small paint brush as a duster in one hand and the hoover in the other to suck up the dust flicked up from the brush. Basicly just go around everywhere dusting, vents, small trim gaps, seat seams etc...

Now there is no loose dirt in the car you can start to scrub the seats with your APC and a stiff-ish scrubbing brush. On light coloured interiors you need to clean/wet the whole seat so you don't get darker or lighter patches when dry. Once scrubbed wipe over with a clean dry cloth.

You can then wipe over and plastics and trim with your APC.

Nice work - if that is the state they left their car in, I hate to think what their house is like.

Cheers dazza, hopefully people will see there isn't much to keeping on top of their interiors. The car was bought on the cheap by my friends dad and the previous owner hadn't cleaned it! New owners actually run a rather nice country pub.

Looks immaculate.

Did you use anything special on the lower seat frames and runners. They look so much better in the "after" shot.

Nope nothing special just de-dusted with a brush and the hoover then wiped over with a cloth and some All Purpose Cleaner!

what a job !!!

hi adam87

that's a fantastic job and just goes to show what can achieved with basic equipment and lots of elbow grease :thumb::thumb::thumb:.

well done once again

That looks good.

The worse thing about my car is the grey interior... Looks great but not at all pratical. The edges of the doors where you always rub it and the speakers need to be black really (I think on the new modle they are)

I've swapped the grey matts for black ones and covered the grey lower trim with gaffer tape at the rear as the little one stads on the sill getting in and its a cinstant battle keeping it look nice.

:)

Hope his beer lines are cleaner than his car!

Absolutely!

What sort of manky clart keeps their car like this?!

No "before" pics here, but when my coupe was being refurbished a couple of years ago, I got free use of a BMW 523i on condition I gave it a real deep clean.

It was disgusting - ingrained sweat in the plastics and gawd knows what else in the furnishings - remember what TG claimed to find in their cars after forensic examination?

Apart from the petrol, free use for two months and a bottle of Highland Park, 'cos Dave sold it for far more than he expected.:thumb:

T reg - 140k miles...

BTW, this is what I thought the "Detailing @ MB Club" section was really for.

When I read your post earlier about putting gaffer tape on the plastic sill cover I thought what about the clear protection film they use on the paintwork? If it can withstand a scuff or two then hopefully later down the line if you sell the car the film would just peel off revealing a brand new looking cover?

Absolutely!

That looks nice and tidy! Stripes make all the difference :thumb:

Scrutters! Nice turn around though. Brave man buying it, I would have walked away, if they can't look after something as simple as the interior how much have they neglected normal maintenance?

Good job, nothing better (automotively speaking) than driving a clean car. I am a fanatic when it come to clean windows, no stickers no badges just clean clear glass

So here is the thing. The creme/beige cloth seats in my 300te (all seven of them) have black mouldy stains on them. I had a good go at them with a vax carpet cleaner with the special furniture sucky hose attachment. This appears to have made the black mouldy bits even worse.

Any clues or tips on what to use and how to use it. I think the seats are getting too wet during the cleaning despite the sucky attachment slurping up most of the excess fluids.

I usually scrub seats with all purpose cleaner from a spray bottle and only ever use a wet vac on really bad seats as most come up clean with a scrub and then a wipe over with a dry cloth. Chewing gum and Tar are removed with Autosmart Tardis which is a tar and glue remover.

If you have tried everything you can think of then look up recommended valeters or detailers in your area and ask them for a quote on an Interior valet. Saves you the time in doing it should let you know whether it is permantant or not, although seeing as you've managed to move it around, that could suggest it might be cleanable.

You fellas are making me feel bad with your immaculate interiors! I always give up after half an hour of elbow grease, but this weekend is the one - my E Class is getting a proper going over!!!

Thanks for spurring me on, great pics.

Vax carpet cleaners aren't great at cleaning car interiors. I would use the method Adam talks about. Spray on APC, scrub it and wipe off with a damp cloth. Be careful you don't damage the fabric with the friction of the scrubbing though, seat cloth can sometimes "rub up."
