Cruise Control (Standard with Automatic transmission) and a fixed standard on the C320CDI,C280,C350
I misinterpreted you message to suggest that the CC/auto was standard across the C class.

Well you are not correct. Check out the MB website and you will find auto and cruise are an option on numerous E's, C's all B's all A's and so on.What nonsense. On my W126 in the 80s, both were optional, and fairly pricey. On my current s-class, both are standard. I think CC is now standard on most benzes.

The S is auto only and therefore comes with cruise standard. On any Merc where you choose auto -or where auto is standard- cruise is included AFAIK.
Hawk, you are not right here, what MBManinken said was correct.
I only have price list back to 1998 and when you choose Auto the CC is free, as 96% of all MB's sold are Auto that confirms it, and thats exactly what he said. In fact I put it up in the post above this, on the new C Class. CC is also offered free on two of those.
Earlier in this thread you poo pood Distronic, in Top Gear tonight, Clarksson said that it was a super thiing on the MB's and that Volvo have now started to put it on their cars.
Sometimes it is better not to post an answer when you are not sure or incorrect
You have not read carefully what I said. I said: -
"Well you are not correct. Check out the MB website and you will find auto and cruise are an option on numerous E's, C's all B's all A's and so on.

I cant see where I have said wrong. All along as with MBminken it has been said that cruise comes as standard when you have an Auto, if you by a manual then you pay for cruise with some exceptions like on the new C Class where cruise is standard on the C320cdi,C280 and C350. I had put this same info up way back in the thread.
This threads is called CC, 96% of newish MBs are Auto, so CC came free on those cars. What is the argument on this
You have this the wrong way round. You said I was wrong in what I said. But if you read my quote carefully I think you will agree that what I said is correct.
I was responding to what MBManinKen said which was: -
""What nonsense. On my W126 in the 80s, both were optional (auto and cruise), and fairly pricey. On my current s-class, both are standard. I think CC is now standard on most benzes."
There are many 126 cars without CC if you wanted it. you paid for it. On the SL in Oct 1994 if you wanted CC you paid for it on the 280 £360 and this had nothing to do with auto box. On the S class in Oct 1994 CC was standard on all models.
In fact from the MB website it is not standard on any A class, or any B class. On the C class, if we take the petrols, it is not standard on the 180K or on the 200k or on the 230K. It is standard on the 280 and 350. For diesel C class cars it is not standard on 2 out of 3 models; not on the 200cdi or the 220cdi but it is standard on the 320cdi. As I said before if you choose the auto option the price includes cruise.
The argument as you well know is that MBManinKen said it was standard on most Mercs. In fact it is an option on many.As 95% of all MB's are auto, they all get CC free , so most MBs have CC. Where is the argument ?
Does it matter that much? .....I think you are both saying the same from different ends of the same arguement.....
Any way its a lovely sunny day today.............:bannana:
They did not. They had to pay over £1000 in my case for the auto and cruise option. They come together but that does not make cruise free.I think that Hawk is just trying to knock MBminken over another thread, if statistics must come into this thread, then 95% of all newish MBs got free CC
The argument as you well know is that MBManinKen said it was standard on most Mercs. In fact it is an option on many.
I said that it was an option on many and you posted that I was wrong and should think twice before posting. Not a pleasant thing to say especially since what I said was correct.

No and you can't have the auto without the cruise. Does that make auto free? I must get my bill adjusted. It does if you cant have the auto without it, and you cant![]()
