I use a plastic lid off a spray can takes seconds to remove letters and no damage, then some sticky stuff remover from halfords job done. Tip apply the solution before removal
i did say NEW base c180 .....i feel anymore time is wasted on this now. im out. i hope the op manages to remove his badge with the advice on this thread and enjoys his clean look without prejudice or unwarranted judgement
Dresho, what exactly is your car? You've managed to even keep it a secret on this forum but I'm guessing from the rear exhaust its not a c320 or c63 so go on tell us
Hi there,
Going to remove the badges tomorrow to clean around the lettering. When I put back the old lettering will I need more glue? Can anyone recommend what kind?
Thanks
The lettering isn't glued, it's held with thin double-sided foam tape that will be destroyed when you remove it. It will be a long and fiddly job getting the residue off the letters, cutting tiny bits of new tape to fit (assuming you have some), then putting the badging back on in exactly the same position (if you get this even slightly wrong it will stick out like a sore thumb).
IMHO you would be mad to go through this just to clean the car - use cotton buds or similar to clean around the lettering.

If you really prefer to put them back on just buy a new badge from your dealer .. Not that expensive ! . I would measure placement/position before removal though , nothing worse than a non factory position badge(s) .
