DMS Automotive - C230K Chipping

Opps. Edited instead of replying! :o

I believe they read my ECU and then reamp. So specific to my car, which is generic to all C230K's I guess!!!!

Who knows?!

It's close enough for to not worry and see how it drives. He emphasised that above the BHP and torque increases how much more responsive the car would be. Apparently against what other tuners believe they regard the 230K (of R170, w202, w208 era) to be very very responsive to a remap due to Mercedes moderation.

The 2.3l 230k engine is highly reinforced and is very reliable. MB left it in a poor state of tune as standard for tax purposes (193bhp was the tax threshold) and also to avoid distracting people from other medium performance models.

I'm tempted to swap the pulley, facelift the air intake, change the exhaust and then do the software tuning to finish it off :)

The way DMS tell it, the ECU does not currently use or take advantage of the boost currently created, at least not all of the time.

Please excuse technical knowledge here on.........

Their remap BHP claims are not that far off a the likes of a Pulley upgrade.

If DMS are correct however, changing the pulley alone would only help so much if the electronics are not allowing the boost to be used.

So yes, both would be a good plan.

However for the increase they are offering and considering I would preferably like the engine to last a little longer, I think the remap will be my last performance mod.

I will be very interested to read the results! :D

Well, if I report back it probably means the results are bad. Otherwise I will be "doing a Maff" and driving the car for the sake of it!

It'll be a bit like when I fitted the green cotton air filter, seemed to bring the smile back to my face, the corners of which had drooped a little after about 4 months of ownership. :)

They were the business. Forgot to take my one out of the C180 when i chopped it in.
Out of sight, out of mind I guess

Tell me more Shude mate - where do I get one and is it easy to fit on a W211 200 Kompressor?

Cheers

I got mine from:
http://www.greenfilters.com

they don't list one for the W211 E200k though.

The part number for the E200k is P950351

I found that here:
http://www.ccmotorsport.co.uk/Merch...950351&Category_Code=Green_Direct_replacement

I guess lots of places sell the green cotton filters, check all the usual rice-shops!

Unlike the K&N filters these have less oil on them so stand less chance of breaking the airflow sensor. I ran my previous car for 40k miles with the green cotton filter with no problems, swapped to my current car and it's done 20k with it, no issues so far *touch wood*.

Performance gains? Probably only as much as 5% increase, but the throttle response is a lot better! :)

Thanks Shude.

Bought one from ccmotorsport.

Cheers
OG

They don't seem to do a filter for the C240 ...

I'm thinking that ther C280 one will fit. Does anyone know?

Probably, if you want I will check the catalogues later to see if the C280 and C240 have the same airbox/oem paper filter. If they do then it's obviously the same fitment ;)

yes please. thanks.

my air filter is due a change anyway (not been changed since I had the car, and that nearly 3 years now)

He's been under my bonnet for about 30 minutes now.........

Nervous! I paid a lot of money for that NEW ECU a while back!

I just worked out that it's about £28 per 1 bhp increase. That's not bad really.

I take it you'll be straight off to Dyno it once he's finished, Graham ;)

Graphs please !! :D
