hi

im thinking of selling my c180 on ebay. anyone had any experience of selling a car on here? any horror stories or successes!?

matt

I'm sorry but I've never sold anything on Ebay but have bought quite a bit off there. Never had any problems...........so far.

I think you just have to use your 'common sense'.

Cheers, Bill.
:)

Sold a car a couple of years ago. Listed it three times, and on the third occasion it sold in no time at all using 'Buy it now'. Like any other form of trade you just have to wait for someone to want it at the price you're offering.

Disadvantage is that many people have a 'bargain hunting' mindset on ebay, and are expecting give away prices, and hence why it may have to be listed a few times. But on the flip side is the shear number of people that see the advert - much greater chance of finding a buyer than a local paper for example.

Give it a go with a reserve price - you'll lose nothing but the time to write the advert and a few quid for listing it. If something smells fishy tread carefully, just as you would if selling by any other means.

Bought my clk off ebay,no problems at all, also sold 2 motorbikes

Should have deleted that bid Ian ..... :(

Be surprised if he shows as you said .... :(

Bloody Hell Ian, I would have loved those wheels. I know a lot of people don't like those type, but I do, and a extra bonus being 16".

Oh well, never mind.

Good Luck.......hope he shows.

Ciao, Bill.

In a way I hope he doesnt. My 260E is getting tired and ever so rusty. I feel an engine swap to an estate etc looming

Hey Ian, if he doesn't show, do you fancy doing a swap with my wheels? :D

They are 15" jobbies with good tyres.

Let me know, okay? Thanks.

Bill.

If he doesn't collect and pay make sure that you give him an NPB (Non-Paying Bidder) strike and get your FFV (Final value Fee) back Ian. Not sure if you can get the listing fee refunded though.

I sold my Jeep and my Ducati on eBay. In both cases got more than they were worth and the buyers were as pleased as punch and paid cash within days. Then again I do look after my stuff so they were immaculate when sold.

If you give him a NPB strike then u get both the listing fee and the final value fee back.

You can then relist the item.

I have bought and sold cars on ebay, selling is quite hard if you want what the vehicle is really worth.

Always insist on a paypal deposit at the end of the auction

What it does do is advertises your car online with lots of photos, i always encourage people to come a and view first and i usually sell outside ebay. I know this is wrong but at the end of the day ebay allow alsorts of crooks on there so sod them!

Got a 1989 944 2.7 Porsche going on these soon........£2000.......anyone intrested????......Cheeky but every opportunity!

my 2p worth... I've sold and bought lots of items and cars on eBay - works everytime for me. i put nice cars (BMW,Smart, etc) on eBay where people can appreciate them, rep mobiles on autotrader

I sold my 190e 2.6 on eBay - no problems to date with any aspect eBay.

You only get the final value fee back, if you relist and it sells again you get a listing credit, but only if it sells again...
