Does the car you drive

...think I would rather use the money to at least move out of the area...

It depends. Maybe if you had a lot of friends close by you might prefer to stay in the same house.

So your wife and i have something in common....the difference being is the fact you asked this question and she just thinks your SAD because you joined a forum that may contain poor people!

Tony.
which part of my post am I referring to poor people?

Focus on your self, not others.:thumb:

Agree but it does make you wonder when they live in a council estate and park R8's and new Range Rovers outside....

Just proves how freely finance is available... Car finance is a another issue waiting to burst wide open.

I cant complain as I get many customers from this but still makes me cringe.

There's a road near me that is mostly terraced and a few semi-detached houses - values around £150K ish. One of the residents in a very shabby (most are quite well looked after) terraced house has recently bought a 2013 Bentley. Yup, he bought it - not financed etc.

It looks absurd to be honest as it's probably worth more than the house, overhangs the drive and is in pristine condition whereas the house is run down! A while ago I subtly asked him about it and he simply said the car was his and the house was his "missuses" and "she doesn't give a sh*t about the house but likes to ride in style" Strange but true!

many folk around here live in houses in bad condition yet drive new range rovers, each to their own etc but your house is with you a lot longer than your car

You get many people who are far more concerned about other peoples business than their own, unfortunately this isn't ever going to change & people will continue to judge and criticize each and every bit of your appearance.

Becoming a MB owner, I feel like I'm being judged with a perception that I've got deeper pockets than someone else & this always bugs me.

We are all on our own paths, dealing with our own business - different people like different things.

People that focus on other's belongings, clearly have nothing better to do.

- That's my opinion.

My post wasn't about me envying somebody buying/leasing a fancy car.

Yes i get some people don't want to live in a big fancy house, thats fine, but what i don't get is why some people would spend a fortune on depreciable asset, yet still living in a mainly council estate area, think I would rather use the money to at least move out of the area or at least move to a house where you can park your car on the own drive

I have a period house with no drive and park my S500L on road ( its a crescent so not much traffic ) ,,it is the longest car in my crescent , but it's in a very nice area , lots of period houses don't have drives as there was no cars when they where built plus I like my front garden full of flowers not cars ...bit of a silly thread really

Round my neck of the woods plenty of people in expensive houses have old cars.

For example, a million pound house down the road has an H reg 190, a T reg E320 Estate and the lad's Corsa. Opposite, is a house with a Y reg E320, a vintage car in the garage and a 10 year old Mondeo.

Last year, although we have a fully paid up mortgage and have the money, you would have found us with our 14 year old C class and the 12 year old Golf. The only reason for changing car was old faithful started showing more interest in my garage owning mate than I was prepared to tolerate. Oddly enough, the Merc did not attract criticism even though it was barely worth 1/3 of one of my cycles (which are not that expensive).

So the imbalance works both ways.

I think at certain times, a really nice car fills an itch, other times we have other interests or demands or perhaps have just found a car which is a comfortable pair of slippers. I have no problem either way, just with people who think there is something wrong with a person who is happy doing their own thing.

Are not all people with nice cars on council estates either drug dealers or pikeys ????

But in all seriousness I could not care less but about other peoples cars, houses or lifestyles but it is just a bit of a "weird" look to have a cracking car outside a dump or a old banger outside a mansion

Who can begin to know anybody's circumstances :dk:.

Couldn't agree more.

I am beginning to feel some of the members are ganging up on me here, yep go ahead if it makes you feel good about it, as it seems quite a common practice on here anyway.

I drive pass the same house almost daily for the last 10years, and frankly the owner always seems to have some decent cars, fine, he likes cars. No big deal.

Recently, presumably this same owner financed/bought the car probably worth more than his house is worth, thats when I took notice, as I have nothing better to do, thought I post it up here, so some of you guys could have a go at me!

Wouldn't anybody took notice if they drive pass the house everyday??

If your neighbour one day turn up in a Bugatti, you will seriously not take any notice at all??

Give me a break!!

i dont think anyones ganging up, just thread is side tracking abit. id certainly take notice if say my next door neighbour bought a SLR or summit lol
