Does your AMG induce hatred on the road?

I seem to attract the bell-end boys who like to tail gate but I imagine they are trying to read the model numbers although I don't have any but the Weistec emblem is very small so I can only assume they are trying to make that out :dk: As for the OP, soft tops do tend to be owned by total knob-cheese's wearing a pink Lyle & Scott sweater so that's probably why the negative looks, especially seeing one with the roof down and it's totally overcast and even on some occasions.....raining  My take on it? Who gives a toss what others think, as long as you're happy :bannana:

Haven't had any problems but a lot of positive reaction, especially when wearing my pink Lyle Scott while driving with the roof down in the rain.

Interestingly I tend to get a lot of thumbs up from bikes.

That's just because their hands too cramped to give you the middle finger :)

I thought I was missing something :-)

Always getting tailgated, whether its a white van or a Barrier Corsa since I got the '55

This is because people in AMG (I'm *so* envious ) cars have to drive like grannys due to being bankrupted buy the petrol consumption.

Solution to tailgaters is more speed.

The solution to getting tailgated in a 30 or 40 zone is not more speed. Im guessing your indirectly refering to yourself reguarding becoming bankrupted when owning one, which would explain your ongoing chip on your shoulder about AMGs

Yep, what you AMG men have always assumed is quite correct, anyone without an AMG car is skint and hopelessly jelous, and you are a bit more special.

I think the tailgating is purely the want to see these famed car's GO......And dont forget the sound you leave behind its a petrol heads dream come true!
I wont tailgate but i do often wind my window down and turn the radio off while following an AMG just to hear it go (sad i know):dk:

Tony.

I would suggest Nick your mixing with the wrong crowd i have not met any AMG owners like that!

That's because you look like a psychopath! A friendly one mind :thumb:

;)

Don't think mine induces hatred, in fact the only comments I've had have been pretty positive.

I also think that the majority of people wouldn't know what an AMG was, especially as there are now so many variations of the brand. I don't have badges either, so the majority of people would assume it's just an old man Mercedes, which suits me down to the ground.

I may get the odd Corsa or two at the traffic light GP, but I always let them go, as it must please them that their 1.2 machine with Halford's bling has just blown the doors off a Mercedes. Until they realise that the race they thought they were in wasn't actually a race...

Oh, and as for the tailgating comment, the simplest way around this is to just slow down and let them pass, which they will eventually. :)

Think you have been declared bankrupt more than the average forum member Nick, but then it is a great way to wipe your debts and buy up your old stock cheap isn't it?

S

I've never been declared bankrupt, sorry for disrupting the AMG mutual [edited] thread, I'll leave you special people alone.

Good, it's about time those with taxi and cooking models learned their place on this forum.

To me you shouldn't be able to post in the AMG section unless you own one!

Can't say as I've experienced any hatred :dk:.

Though I do get a bit fed up with nubile maidens throwing flower petals in front of the car, as it hampers reasonable progress .

Cant say Ive experienced any hatred as thats a pretty strong word. People makes value judgements all the time whether your in a car or not, thats just part of life.

The trick is just let them do them and you do you.

Mind you I did feel a tad embarrassed yesterday, when I picked my little girl up from her school ECO club :)

That was until I saw all the black death smoke all the weasel powered cars spilled out when they pulled off with wheel spins.

I think its a convertible thing - some people dislike them (and the drivers of them) with a passion and because the roof is off, you tend to hear the insults that you wouldn't otherwise do with the roof on.

Actually I had not considered that fact. I must admit I do chuckle when I see people with the hood down at any glimpse of sun.
