E Class - too big?

But this is not made up, while I was there, from around 8.30am through to 11ish, she had 2 bacon sandwiches, a plate full of biscuits, and there must have been 25 odd biscuits on that plate, around 10 frothy coffees and I was leaving she had just ordered a french stick with cheese and ham and a piece of carrot cake.
!

You just got *** very excited

Thanks to everyone who commented - I've taken the plunge today and ordered a MY2011.5 E350CDi Avangtarde saloon in Tenorite Grey/Alpaca Grey with Comand, Harman Kardon, DAB and folding rear seats.

Just have to be patient now... :)

I usually handbrake turn my E55 into parking spaces - it's easy to do.

So far I've spent £657,980 on new body panels, but it's worth it :D

Seriously, it's not that big - and most W211s have parking sensors I think.

Spooky! With the exception of the colours (mine's Indium Grey/Almond Beige) you've ordered the same spec as me!

Congratulations on a great choice :) :thumb:

Dunno, the more that fat cow hoovers up means the less for me...

Tenortite is the nicest colour on the 212 and the interior you optioned will make it light and airy. Folding seats is a rare one and a good one to choose.

I started off looking at a C250CDI, ended up with a W212 350CDI. I love it but it depends what YOU want. If you want sporty then choose a C class, it's smaller and more nimble. If you want lots of room and a comfortable cruiser choose the E class. In terms of parking it's a doddle with front & rear sensors, it can seem to stick out a little in short parking spaces but the only problem width-wise is my own wishes to not have the sides stoved in by some ar*e opening there doors onto mine.

Exactly the same as me, went to look at c250 and bought e350.

Lovely car, mine's got the reversing camera, which is mostly pointless but could save a ding on a low bollard/high kerb i suppose.

just get the E, it's great.

My new E350CDi arrived a week ago today, so I thought I would post my impression of it now I've driven one for longer than an hour.

The car is clearly a good deal bigger than my old one but I'm pleased to say this hasn't given me any problems so far. I am more cautious about where I park it, simply to avoid dings from those parked next door, but I can't say parking has been a problem.

The car is everything I hoped for - beautifully comfortable and a really relaxing environment. Still getting used to the Comand system but very impressed by the sound quality with the Harman Kardon option. Engine hardly audible but certainly delivers really smooth acceleration when asked.

Because I was concerned about the parking issue, I added the reversing camera. I don't think that was really needed as the parktronic seems to work well but it's good to be able to see there are no small children running behind, for example.

The car feels really well built and I hope I'll still be driving it in ten years' time. :)

My 2010 W212 had exactly the same colour combo as yours with the same spec including comand, harmon kardon, DAB which I believe are essential for this car. I also had the split/fold rear seats. Now I have a new W212 with the Tenorite Grey again but with the Natural Beige leather which provides a nice contrast. The reversing camera which I didn't have in my previous car I now find really useful particularly when negotiating high curbs/low potholes that parktronic doesn't pick up. The view from the camera is really clear apart from during a recent rain storm! Either way, the E is really easy to park and scores higher than the C in all around view. Enjoy.....

My present car is running well but I do like the mods on the latest models. Thinking of changing my MB and had thought of a coupe - C or preferably E.250cdi or 350cdi However, reading this thread I now wonder about a W212 E saloon. Does this have the 7 speed box? Not sure we really need to carry passengers very often so the coupe would be a nice change. Any comments?

e class size

i have just purchased a 212 e class saloon, and although a very experienced driver of over 43 years, i have found it very difficult to guage the width and the nose of the car, but in fairness it is early days for me. the drive and handling are utterly superb, and being new to the MB brand am like a child with a bag of sweets.

I sat in an Audi A7 recently...what a revelation.
