I am looking to buy a 2004 e270 cdi with 140k mls full mb service history apart from the last one when the gearbox oil was replaced by an MB Specialist I have never purchased a car with such a high mileage on it is there anything i should be looking for or any expense need to think about by buying such a high mileage car I have assumed the engine is fairly reliable and will go on for many more miles

High milage? On Merc? On diesel? I think that engine just warmed up. 140k in 6 years so most of it are highway miles unless its been a taxi (avg 23k a year where average person do 12-16k a year).

Check for any possible electric problems, take engine cover and check condition of injectors and if they puff-puff while running. Drive accross bumby roads and listen for any knocking noises.

High milage.... I had CLK with 160k and it had no problems with engine, gearbox or suspension. I have W210 with 143 and that is nothing for this car.

If it was fully serviced milage means nothing to me - not on MERCS.

I have seen the 270 engine do 500,000+
