E280 CDI Sport (Celtic Tuning Map) Dissapointing RR result

I deleted my own post. Decided my reply might upset a certain member.Again.

Part of my post did question why Celtic Tuning would expect the OP to make a 500 mile round trip at his own expense for something he thought he's paid for.
With Celtic dealers much closer to his home, why so far?

Sorry but you are the only one that get`s upset and goes hysterical as you don`t like opinion`s!!

You have been childish for pages.

I agree what has been said about Celtic`s reply and it should not happen, but obviously they are standing by their agent who must be a little mixed up about their remaps!

I won`t be back with them as they say they are not re-writing any more of their maps for more power.

All i will say is i had a great service from the Ashford agent who did give me the correct map with good results for a smelly diesel:bannana:

Hi Gareth - we would like to take a look into your rolling road result, however, we have a lot of customers on our system called Gareth and an awful lot of Mercedes that we have mapped - would you mind sending us a message with your registration please?

Kind regards

Celtic Tuning Team
Guys, as you say there's an awful lot of Mercedes that you map, this would mean that you regularly see examples of the om642 V6 3.0L diesel engines at your HQ. Why don't you dyno one of those & post the dyno result on here or your website?

I'm sure most of us here are keen to find out the power curve and the output of your 290bhp map.

Keith, why did you have to go all reasonable. I find myself in total agreement with you.

One thing i will add is you never really know how good a Company is until you get a problem.

It's then how they sort it out which usually says it all. (not just Celtic) im talking about btw.

Ive used Celtic in the past and they have been very good. Ive not used one of their agents though. Perhaps the wrong map was applied by the agent?

Agreed, not a very good response. I think we can all draw our own conclusions into the RR result, it will be interesting to see what happens when the car goes to MSL.

Would be good if it goes onto the dyno before and after. Really interested on how this will turn out.

To me it seems they know the engine is the same as a 320 but don't realise the software is different it seems.

I think the above needs to be done to get to the bottom of the outed figures :thumb:

I do understand what you say but i am not really unreasonable....i don`t tell lies maybe exagerate to get a laugh but mainly say it as it is or i have found.....that is what people don`t like.....having said that i don`t like many people either...lol

I think you maybe right here as it is to do with 280cdi and not 320cdi software!

Maybe also the software for the 7g is slightly different and the torque may be too much so Celtic keep it reduced, who know`s?

Very simply. The E280 CDi has additional limiters which can only accessed by a full read of the ECU. You need to remove the ecu to get this full read and access it by BDM mode. An OBD is a partial read and doesn't get to these limiters.

If the ecu hasn't been removed it will make no more power than you have.

This is unique to the 280 CDi.

Is it just software with the 280/320? I guess it's not like the 3.0 diesels in BMW 325d and 330d, where the power difference is caused by a different intake as well?

aaaah!...so now we know...very clever.

If you look at it logically why should MB allow such an increase in performance when only the more expensive 320cdi could be bought?

I am talking when new....MB would only surely shoot themselves in the foot.

But is the 280cdi 2007 onwards and w204 series which have more secure ECU`s?

Must add.....so Celtic are ok after all just don`t go so deep as a Custom Map? Horses for courses!

Do you mean will make no more power than stock, or no more power than what the OP has got post Celtic remap?

As it would definitely suggest an increase over stock, just not as much as was quoted.

Not if there claiming 290bhp on a 280 when that's not atchivable unless ecu is removed! There just using odb.

I would agree.
Seems it needs John from BFT to show Celtic how to remap a 280.
Especially after a customer has paid for an expected 290hp when it will never happen using their map:doh:.

Agreed, my thoughts exactly. Essentially I could never get what I paid for.

If you are going to MSL, Acid will dyno the car before and after the remap so you will see the increase you are getting.

Even those who question the dyno and false readings etc, cannot deny you will see the increase. Much better than taking the (false) word of another tuner and believing you'll get what they claim.

Alex i think you have said the wrong thing there????

At least i have a remap for around 2yrs now but you are still talking a remap after all this time :D:D:D

I would agree.

I agree with what has been said about Celtic and at least i do have the 320cdi which they say maps out ok, but now i am beginning to disbelieve Celtic although the motor performs fine and the supposed power does relate to the acceleration figures which cannot be disputed as i have said before it is physics....but their is a niggle in my mind now so may go to MSL over the next few months.

My remap was just £250 ECU not removed as 2006 320cdi so i wonder how much MSL will charge?
