I've always wanted a CE - a shame they didn't make a V8 version in any decent number!

Looks nice enough - need to check the SH fully to see what's been done.

Congratulations!

From vendor's pictures and info it looks a good honest unmolested example. If the paint is really that good and there are no issues with CHG or loom, you seem to have got a real bargain for the mileage and spec. And there appeared to be two other keen buyers.

Post up more info and pics when you've time. Apart from thumbnail sized surface rust at each end of the front wheelarches, there should be no other rust issues at all. Mmmm - stone chips on bonnet?

You've covered gasket and loom - broken front springs only other common problem (but it looks level). Beyond that you'd be dead unlucky!

Enjoy :D

Did they make any V8 coupes ?

I've seen a few one offs - whether these were AMG experiments I don't know. They were all LHD.

Ian thanks, for me it is a case of returning to the fold. But had my fingers burnt with the 124 estate...at least I know who to go to if things go wrong!

Looks wicked. If it's as clean as it appears, I think you've definitely got a bargain. I paid more for less  Not that I'm complaining at all! ;)

Though that was a few months back in the height of the summer...

Very nice car. Looks like a beauty in the photos.

Not so keen on the scarf though!! :D

Scarf...what about the beads around the rear view mirror!

Looks very nice-Great colour combination too:D I think you will both be very happy together.:)

Absolute bargain.

Pick up a copy of Mercedes Enthusiast mag and see what they are retailing for.

Did you get a service history with it showing work which had been done ????

If it does not show engine wiring loom changed, you WILL need to budget for a replacement soon.

If you are a hands-on person, take the spark plug cover off (after removing the air intake pipe) and look carefully at the wiring insulation that goes to the coil feeds. You will need to snip off some of the cosmetic black fabric covering on the wires and then check the wires for cracks.

If the wires have cracks you have the original old loom and it needs to be changed.
The first sign of the loom failing is when a coil breaks down (gets shorted out)
and engine fires on only 4 cylinders.

The loom gets moved everytime the plugs are changed and the insulation falls off the inner wires going to the coil feeds.

So if you get a coil fail, treat as urgent as it can then blow the ECU (£1000).

If you need a new loom budget £600 plus fitting, although you can do it yourself.

Have fun.

Regards

It's a Catch22 situation - inspecting or moving the original loom will damage it - as inevitably they all rot - though as a mid '95 car you might be lucky.

I know a chap that can make the loom up using much better materials for less than a new one though he'll need the original as they're all different depending on what options the car has.

Who drives with a picture of their loved one next to the gearbox? :D

No movement of the coil feeds need take place to snip away the outer cosmetic coverering of the wires to the coil connections.

By gently snipping a couple of inches of the material with a nail scissors, one can then easily see the condition of the actual loom wires and (cracked)insulation, if indeed they are cracked.

As I say the outer covering is just cosmetic and black in colour to match the rest of the loom, and give the loom a uniform look. No harm done at all BUT big peace of mind.

Perhaps you have never worked under the top engine cover of a HFM 104 engine.

Azurite blue has always been my favourite colour.
