e350 cdi remap?

You haven't heard of Big Fish Tuning that operate out of MSL and also in the North East?
Very well thought of with the AMG tuned cars in particular.

IMO MSL use third party BFT which is a completely separate company for their tuning hence to me is not classed as “in house” developed tuning by themselves. There are even tuners out there that have developed their own “in house” software specifically for writing remaps but these tuners are not based in the UK.

I am not looking to start any debate as we are all entitled to our own opinions.

As long as everyone is happy with their own individual tuning then that is all that matters.

Ok so I felt I should up date this thread. After much deliberation the car visited GAD tuning last week. They have mixed reviews on here but better on another Mercedes forum so it thought I'd go and see for my self. The guys were really friendly and even provided a bacon sandwich when they did their breakfast order. The garage is clean and tidy and has an air of professionalism that was reassuring. They had an F type Jag in for an exhaust and as I left a Porsche Cayman S arrived closely followed by a Bentley. They appear to have quite a customer base. So far so good I have covered some 200 mile or more since and am pleased. No smoke a nice smooth linear power delivery and fuel consumption seems good also. Its early days yet as I haven't done a long run or had the chance to push it really. Oh and I've updated my profile pic to show the new lady in my life!

Always good to see an update!

How is it post the remap, you mentioned that it was a little sluggish compared to your previously remapped 320cdi, is this no longer the case now?

Car looks nice btw!

Thanks, much improved. My old W203 just had the right power to size in my opinion. It used to remind my of my old E30 albeit a lot more refined. The "e" is more refined again. From standing its a full on battle with the traction control if you plant your foot which seemed fun in the W203 but rather un -gentlemanly in the "E". The most useful improvement is from say 55-60 to three digits on a private road of course. It catches you quite by surprise. Obviously not in the same league as a lot of the lads on here but enough to keep me happy for the time being.

hi everyone, could you provide mpg figures please I'm only curious as I've owned a e350cdi coupe 231bhp 59 plate since July. Previous owner had it remapped claiming 260 bhp.it drives ok I'm getting 29mpg around town and 40mpg on the motorway to London yesterday at a steady 70/75mph any quicker [ done previous trip ] even lower 38 mpg.I don't think this is impressive really. Considering flash back to standard and start again..

Mpg seems normal on that, I get something along the same lines lines with a standard 320cdi V6 224bhp.

For that mileage and average speed of the trip, I would expect similar figures on mine AVNT. Usually at around 40mpg on 100 mile trip.

if the car is mapped is the computer accurate?
my e350 computer is out by around 3-5mpg whenever I've worked it out manually and it is standard.

I'd be keen to see real figures post remap

Thanks

I think the accuracy will not change as I'm guessing the figure is worked out by the amount of fuel burnt vs distance travelled. There will always be a degree of inaccuracy.

Is yours the e class?

My 55 plated C320 cdi remapped by Angel tuning used to get high 40s very easily. Just goes to show how pre DPF cars were far more economical. I still miss the way it wafted along. I don't miss the inlet port valve problem lol.

How was the angel map? And was the port shutoff issues pre or post map?

The map was ok. The inlet port problems were both ore and post mapping. In all 3 went. It was so bad that I had a letter from MB stating that in the future the max cost would ever be no more than 10%.

Then the front bearing went at 90,000 mile's but MB paid half

The car was getting too unreliable but I have to admit MB were great to deal with. Also so were the dealer in Swindon.

If it helps I had my E350cdi coupe remapped by Superchips. I was hearing all sorts of figures from the tuners, but no one could actually back it up with rolling road data, just estimated. SC were the only company to back up their claims with PDF file. Remapped around a year ago, no smoke, slightly better fuel economy, and still keeps the characteristics of the car.

GAD sorted mine out including the TCU. That was i few years ago.Good Fuel figures and much better to drive. Very impressed with there work.

Some deluded among good comments on this thread.

Even some of the so called established tuners use generic (whether that be bought in imported files or in house own developed maps), these are then flashed onto your ECU if you ask for a file to be sent or they visit your house, that's why it only takes minutes to do. The maps do the job but are normally very safe.

If you want a bespoke map then you have to ask, some will miss sell you one, trust me it happens, others will write you a bespoke map, this is what MSL can do via BFT or Eurocharged as well as now doing some of their own maps. Other companies offer this and can also get good results. Some will use base maps (bought in) but tweak them, not bad as long as they know what they are doing.

All good stuff, pay your money and take your risk......

i recommend dms - extremely professional and deal with top end cars

they do a before and after dyno run so no bs - not cheap but you get what you pay for in my eyes and i certainly dont want someone touching my pride and joy unless they know what they are doing abd come with a good reputation

they took my c220 cdi amg sport from 192 stock (should be 170) to 241
