E55 AMG info needed re: SBC system

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the SBC system on a 2003 E55 AMG. I recently had the drivers door courtesy light switch fail, it kept on saying the drivers door was open when it plainly was not. My mechanic disconnected the switch until I got a replacement. This is where it gets strange, as soon as he did that my SBC system was no longer available! I got the "SBC not available. See owners manual" message. As soon as I replaced the switch it has all come back! Is this right? Is SBC disabled if the driver side door switch fails or is there something else going on?

The drivers door switch activates the SBC to prime the system when entering the car, so it is required.
