Ebay Item - Bilstein 'Lorinser' Shocks for W202 C-Class

Altreed, how are the new shox performing now they've bedded in? I've got a C36 and am thinking of buying a set...Did you install yourself? If not does anyone have an 'idiots guide' to installation they can post...I've got sockets/spanners etc just not sure how to use them hehe

Hi rees A,

I am enjoying the new shox, 'do it' is what I say  They make the car lovely again. Although I will only have done about 1000 miles on them! No complaints ;)

However, I will say, my dAd collected an 04 e270CDI eleGance yesterday and I drove it  That was a nice car. Having driven that and getting back in mine, it is rather 'bumpy', I guess it always was, but!

I am pleased I replaced my shox, they did make a noticeable improvement, and the price was good. :D

With regard to fitting, I had mine done in the garage, I needed other work done in replacing assorted bushes. Therefore, I decided to let them fit the shox while the car was in bits. I must say, if I hadn't needed to get the bushes done I would have fitted them myself, it didn't look any worse than fitting a z1000 engine (not in the c36 tho) ;)

Hi Rees,

Fitting the shocks is an easy job IMHO - the most difficult part would be compressing the old shocks to remove them IMHO. Pretty much a case of bolt in, bolt out - no other problems for me.

Try and get a W202 Haynes manual or similar - replacing the shocks should be very similar (I would have thought identical!) to other W202 models. :)

altreed, how many miles did your old shocks have on them? 70k on mine at the moment and it looks like time to invest some money.

Mine were 84k, I have read on this forum that after 60k you've seen their best!

I thought it was excellent VFM at the price the shox were from the ebay site. I would advise that you will appreciate the investment every time you turn the key.
