ECU re-mapping

But equally to bear in mind if you are in an accident it sticks out like a sore thumb and equally a blanking plug leaves the loom there which any technician which isn't picking fluff from his bum is gonna spot :)

Pros and cons of all solutions, none are completely warranty proof.

MSL fit tuning boxes, many of them for certain customers who request them so don't think we are against them!

simply remove whole thing before it goes in for service, dear lord, its not difficult.

Declare to insurance from the off, adds bugger all to premium.

OK no problem. Enjoy your tuning box it's clearly a one sided discussion this.

All I am trying to make sure there are equal sides here with people are aware that unplugging the tuning box without the knowledge as you have will trigger a code. Equally so will it on the lesser tuner boxes which say just keep pushing up the dip switches until it hits limp mode.

Its not a one sided discussion atall, I am purely trying to highlight some of the myths / mirrors and beads surrounding forum speak of tuning boxes etc. I 100% agree that remapping an ecu will flag an error code if dealership ever plugs in to the car for diagnostics with Mercedes main frame system. However Tuning boxes, if fitted wisely and with above methods, I really do see no argument here apart from here-say on forums.

As with any form of tuning, declare with insurer.

And regarding limp mode, buy yourself a decent tuning box which sits inline with multiple variables....boost....fuel rail etc etc and always air on the side of caution RE: settings, and I see no trouble.
