Are parts required for the tyre pressure option?blassberg said:Don't 3 and 5 need other bits?

Don't think I can make the 11th![]()
R2D2 said:... It doesnt actively display tyre pressure but tells you when you are getting a flat hopefully before you have a moment of knacker the tyre.
blassberg said:so i already have puncture warnings but I don't have tyre pressure readings? Tyre pressure readings could be modded in but need resetting at each pump-up?
Flash said:On all the W203s the warning message appears on the cluster when you have a flat tyre as the ECU detects the sudden loss/decrease of air pressure from the wheels rotating.
If going for the tyre pressure montior option then everytime air is added to the tyres the system has to be reset from the menu.
R2D2 said:I dont do these myself so I dont know. But my understanding of my car is that if tyre pressure loss isnt on your car's menu then it wont display if you get a flat because your menu wont have any thing to display. The whole point is that all the cars have the functionality but not all cars have the system activated, just like active cornering lights, they may be present but if they are not activated they wont come on. My car is 2005 model and doesnt have tyre pressure loss on the display (Just as an aside I'm not 100% mine will be able to have it activated either)
Miro will know as he does them all the time.
R2D2 said:I hope you are right, but I'm told that on Star my car doesnt have the even the option to activate in the cluster menu![]()
Shude said:Doesn't tyre pressure monitoring require a sensor in each wheel, a module in each wheel arch and a module in the engine bay/fusebox? It does on the E55 among others.
I am confident when I say that there is no way the software could tell you tyre pressure or temperature without having a sensor, it could possibly detect a problem with a wheel through ESP and disengage cruise control etc but how it could decide that it had anything to do with tyre pressure I don't know.Flash said:On facelift W203s "YES"- sensors/parts are rquired BUT on the Face Lift cars its different and STAR can do it just via the "Settings"- I am going to look into this and will get back with my findings...
I still don't understand how it can work out the pressure without requiring a sensor inside the wheel to measure it, it takes more than rolling diameter to work out tyre pressureFlash said:Update:
PTMS: STAR can make the MENU setting come up and create the sub Menus etc. but cannot get the PSI to display (there may possibly be a way around it but Technician I know is not sure at the moment). He can set the MENU to display “Tyre Monitoring Active” – RESET option or something after filling the tyres with air… (not a definite 100% successful mod…).

Cornering Lights/Fog Lamp Indicator: Straight forward mod to do on Face Lift cars
Auto Lock Folding Mirrors – As long as car was built from mid 2003 and onwards very straight forward to do if it has the updated Front SAM Unit.
Tank Range: Straight forward to do and can be done on pre facelift cars too with updated Front SAM Module from mid 2003…
Alarm Chirp: Be done to any W203 via the Rear SAM Unit
It transpires now that PMTS does have some glitcthes in showing the actual PSI reading level of the tyres...
