R2D2, whos supplying the STARDIAG equiptment? I can help arrange in that arena and cover all models if required for modding? from a qualified MB tech at that!

Its in hand;)

I think this would be achievable with an aftermarket alarm system but with oem parts I'm afraid it's 90%+ impossible.

I agree with Shude but I can but ask!

1 I need - so I can say I have a mod...

Is 2 just cornering light function which is free option on current bi-x W203. I have that. Can't be swivel headlights?

Don't 3 and 5 need other bits?

Finally shouldn't Mods at the seaside be on a bank holiday?

5. You have to have Airmatic first!

does Number 6 come with region unblocking?

and if so, can you do region unblocking but still leave the picture to fade out while driving? that Mod would also make me keep the SLK! Am sure my Niece would disagree with the TV not being on while driving and seeing as she tells me what to do, i suppose i would have to ahve that as well?

can this be done at the Kent GTG or is that too soon?

All the mods proposed will be subject to a Star diagonise machine making it on the 11th.

Can we do a proposed attendence and work required please coz i'm losing track !!
1. R2D2 . Cornering lights, auto folding mirrors, temp instead of kmph.

1. Auto Folding Mirrors on locking car.

On my W202 and W140, when I fold the mirrors back, it leaves the wires exposed. Is this the case on the newer models too? I'm always worried about water getting in and causing trouble, or providing extra opportunities for vandals....

Not sure I'd want the mirrors to fold every time you lock the car!

You don't really want to be doing No.6 as a mod that couldn't be easily undone by removing a plug / bypass device, do you ? Well, maybe you do ! Just a thought for anybody thinking about it though - there are some insurance implications which might be more difficult to 'reverse' if you hard code it !

I'll shut up now ! This has been done to death.

I actually agree about TV on the go its not really that great an idea. As for folding mirrors the workings of mine are covered when folded.

Greg, i am up for No 1 if it is possible. You know Steve wired my Auto dimming mirrors, would that make a dfference?

am up for mod 6 providing it unblocks the region code as well. that the bit i need doing. I am aware of the tv on the go implications and have yet to find out how its possible to drive and watch TV at the same time? most people will crash doing that. but i have a region 1 dvd which dont play and i want it to play. and unblocking it, plays any region see. i can manually put the map on, i cant drive and read/watch that either as it happens even tho its on the screen.

and i am coming on the 11th.

I bet its the MB Technician who used to do your servicing on your W202... as he has the STAR Diagnostic Laptop... ;) :p :)

Its nice that your arranging a group mod session/GTG BUT if charging £20 for each mod I personally think that it is a bit steep. Please take no offence to what I am going to say: For example, if someome was to go for modifcation no.1 (Electric folding Mirrors upon lock..) and no.4 (Alarm chirp). Resetting the Front SAM Module for electric folding mirrors upon lock is a 10 minute job and resetting the REAR SAM Module to "NETHERLANDS" for the alarm chirp again would take no longer than 10 minutes. That would work out £40 for less than 20 minutes work (near enough the Stealer rates...). In my opinion charging £20 for boths mods no.1 & 5 (together) would be value for money and very reasonable and may even possisbly get more people interested.

In order to activate the ALARM CHIRP (Mod no.4) only the following has to be done once STAR is plugged into the port:

From the menu program:

1). Go into Programs...
2). Locate the Rear SAM program
3). Locate "BODY"
4). then select "Netherlands"

Save changes and thats it... :)

why do people want the alarm chirp? it disturbs me in the early hours so i am not sure why anyone wants it? I can't get rid of it on the other car!

altho while i am on it, can i have the SLK alarm set to netherlands settings for when the roof is down. then the alarm will keep the interior sensors active?

in the interest of the above post! maybes a suggestion of £20 a car? or am i going to far?

Sounds a very good deal to me, £20.

alarm chip rocks , once youve had it .. you wouldnt want to go back.

Lock the car , without looking for the flashing lights you know its locked.

£20 a mod is reasonable considering its £95 an hour in a dealer if they will even do the mod for you.

Our "friendly" Techncian did quite a few changes VIA STAR on my friend's car for a couple of pints of Stella at our local... ;) Took our Technician just over 5mins to set the REAR SAM to "NETHERLANDS".

Personally, I think that for someone who is going to do these small mods via STAR Computer and charging £20 per mod is excessive when the will be quite "mutiple" cars there :) Good luck you Guys! :)

well the way I see it is most dealers wont mod cars because a, they dont no how to and b, they cant be bothered. Most dealers charge £30 just to read your fault codes!

If I can get adaptive cornering lights for £20 then I think its a bargain.

Seeing as you have to have access to thousands of pounds worth of software/computer, namely star diagnosis system, and seeing as someone needs to arrange access to the machine and then travel to a venue and give up his day off so that we get our mods plus the benefit of his advice I feel that £20 a mod is a bargain which if people dont want to pay then thats fine.

Maybe the drive to holland is easier?

EDIT: It people dont want access to the machine then I'll not set up the gtg and just get my own done on another day.

Of course R2D2's contact is going to be making money. I'm sure he just loves spending his weekends modding cars for free, but he probably has mouths to feed too!

Flash, you are obviously fortunate enough to have your own contact for similar services, so I guess won't be needing to take up this offer. For the majority of others, it's a unique oppertunity at a fair rate IMO.

Exactly the case. If I'm to expect him to get the machine and give up his Saturday to do our mods I can't ask him to do it for nothing.

I need to be able to say to him "look if you'll come, we'll have x number of jobs for you"

I will say no more on this subject. If you want to come and take up this offer please can you let me know so that I can see if this is viable or not.
