Erratic idling revs on '97 E230 W210

I took my Dad's 1997 W210 E230 for a spin the other day - far more cusioned expirence than my Sport model.

I noticed a couple of times at the lights the rev's went down below 1000rpm to around 500rpm. and somtimes the engine sounded like its spluttering.

It has 120k on the clock and had a new exhaust about a year ago.

What would cause this? O2 sensor? MAS?

Its due a service next month but we would like to know already?

MAS.

I had a E230 at one point, smae issue, revs werecycling up and down form 500-1000 revs and used to lurch in traffic. Better get it fixed as a few days later mine started cutting whenever i let go of the accelerator pedal! New MAS cured the prob

Though the MAF mainly affects mid to high engine output they can affect the idle, My V70R one was doing this stalling and cutting out at low RPM , Un plugging does not always work for top and power but has worked on my car, I must buy a new one one day, vacuum leaks can upset iddle to

Cheers I was thinking it maybe the MAS, will have to see what the Garage says when next month.
