Eventful bike Ride to Work

People have a right to walk and cycle on the highways, we are only licenced to drive a car on them.

One of my colleagues got knocked off his bike a few weeks back by a van. He broke both of his wrists. He had an operation and still has pins sticking out of them. Cyclists do come off worst when they collide with other moving (or not) vehicle/object.

Worst thing about breaking both wrists?

You can't wipe your **** for 6 weeks (I speak from experience :o )

I've heard that if you write to the DVLA saying you bumped this car in a car park and, being a good citizen, would like to get in contact about it they can provide you with their address for you to write them. Or to go round and have a 'word' about running you over.

You don't have to tell porkies. You already have a genuine reason for identifying this pratt. I believe you do have to pay a small fee though.

N415 NSU. Have already checked against the RAC data check.

From the Vehicle Licensing Online website www.vehiclelicense.gov.uk details are as follows:

The enquiry is complete

The vehicle details for N415 NSU are:

Date of Liability 01 07 2005
Date of First Registration 03 06 1996
Date of Last V5 Issue 13 01 2005
Year of Manufacture 1996
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1994CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Heavy Oil
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Due to Expire
Vehicle Colour BLUE

Not sure this helps any, but it should help confirm whether it is the car you got hit by.

thank you.

I can't see why that wouldn't work

Slightly off topic, My wife recently hit a child who wasn't looking as she crossed the road. My wife was only traveling slowly(about 10mph) as it was near a school so the girl was fine or at least it seemed that way as she got up and ran off. My wife followed her to school and checked again that she was ok. She told the school who called her parents/police etc. She didn't need to attend hospital and was fine....

The only damage was to the wifes bonnet...

About 2 weeks ago we got a letter(the incident was in Jan) from the girls solicitors saying they were suing insurance co for wife not driving with due care and attention. The list of supposed injuries were massive and the Hospital attended box said no...How did they know what was wrong with her if she hadn't been to hospital... Anyway, insurance co are not going to pay out easily as we explained what happened, have witnesses who agreed with wives catalogue of events...

I just can't believe the front of some people. If a payout is awarded, I would suggest we all walk out in front of slow moving vehicles, claim damages and injuries due to driver not paying attention. We could all boost our income by approx 5k a year with a couple of instances...

Unless it has been proven that you wife was to blame and also for not driving with due care and attention then i can't see it standing up in court. They're probably just tryin their luck but will leave it once any resisatance is met.

You've missed the point. If someone causes damage to your car and doesn't stop, if you get the registration number, you have a valid reason to identify that vehicle and it's owner in order to seek recompense. It happens all the time.

Technically the pedestrian was at fault and therefore responsible for any damage they caused!!!

I know of cases where the owners of dogs have been taken to civil courts and made to pay for the damage caused to motor vehicles that have swerved to avoid hitting the animal and then been involved in an accident.

Back on topic ;)
Have you heard anything further about the hit and run incident you were involved in.

Regards,
John
