F1 2024

the FiA really need to sort the track-limits regulations out
My casual observation is that track limit violations have increased in proportion to the size of the run-off areas at circuits. It’s notable that they’re never a problem at Monaco where the penalty for doing so is instant and severe.

A second observation is that there is one driver in particular who (ab)uses the current regulations on a routine basis by forcing other cars off the track and then crying “foul”.

Agree

From Ant Davidson’s analysis, because Lando ‘overtook’ whilst off-track he was more likely to have been deemed at fault. To the rest of us, it looks like double standards being applied.

Has Max ever picked up a 5-second penalty for driving someone off the circuit? He took Lewis so far off the circuit in Brazil in ‘21 that he had to show his ID to get back in: no penalty.

Martin Brundle talking sense again....

I absolutely agree, and think most people will be the same. Even if we don’t agree with the rules most people accept them, what “irks” people is inconsistency in how rules are applied, even more so when there seems to be a trend in who comes out best when the rules are applied.

Just watched the qualification. Ch4 must be desperate, that airhead Bravo was fronting the show, spending more time playing to the cameras and was obviously not interested in F1 at all. They are doing an amazing job in dumbing down.

Every time I watch F1 on CH4 I give thanks to the God of Tech who blessed us with the omnipotent Fast Forward Button.

I/we watch and usually enjoy Sky F1 content. We rarely watch the C4 coverage. Sad that it’s not as good as it could be.

Good call, except that I am far to miserly to subscribe to Sky:(
Me too. And with 99.99 percent of their offerings being of no interest, I'm not about to add to their coffers.

Mind you, with the Beeb obsessed with the kicky-ball stuff, that takes precedence over everything else, I'm starting to consider whether or not to pay their licence fee. Especially during times such as now when they intersperse every programme with promoting raucous transvestites.

Sadly, if you watch live TV content in the UK, a (BBC) TV licence fee is payable. Not required for on demand viewing and user produced YouTube content though.

I only want to watch the race itself on C4 or Sky - can't be bothered with the pre-amble and post amble. Sky annoys me with the number of people and attempts to over analyse stuff.

I prefer dealing with analysis / discussion - in the days after - and don't look to TV for that.

Same goes for other sports such as football or NFL. Too many people presenting.

Each to their own.

Each to their own.
Absolutely, but I'm with Dryce on this one; personally I watch for the racing, not the pratting about in the pit lane pre-race. I can put up with DC and Mark Webber, but the rest of the 'hangers oners' not so much.

A good race by Carlos and a great chase by Lando. I believe Mad Max got a new record by scoring 20 seconds worth of penalties within a few hundred metres. At least the FIA were watching this time! Maybe he just assumed that penalties didn't apply to him after last week:dk::doh:

And still he is told by his team that the penalties were due to ‘lots and lots of moaning’ rather than anything Max did… He’ll never be able to race clean, its just not in his make-up.
