OK,

The search is over. I have just placed a deposit down on a C32 this evening. Gulp!

Details to follow...

Just want to say a big thanks to all on this forum for the advice and the prods given.:thumb:

i love the c32, a sleeper and still very fast today.. make sure to post some pics of here when you get it ;)

Can't wait to have it in my garage, but waiting for the sale condition to be met.

1. Full MB service B
2. Body paint touch up, due to age and normal road rash i.e. stone chips and minor scratches. Wanted the bonnet resprayed but there is no authorised MB body shop nearby.
3. Seat heater element repair (actually replacement to fix - seller agreed, but does not know the cost of this, yet!)
4. Fix secondary air pump (I checked and think it is definitely the pump)
5. Glycol test as primary condition of sale. Otherwise, I pull out.
6. I am to be present when the service and glycol test is done.

Apart from the above the previous owner clearly did not clean the car often as there is a lot of built up road grime and the lack of care, especially when parking. By contrast the interior is very clean and has a FMBSH. All four alloys need a refurb and will do it when I have another set of alloys.

First thing when it's home is to give it a full detail. Can't wait!

Congratulations on your purchase.

I see your in Siena, what a fantastic place. I got married there last year at the Piazza del Campo town hall, I rumbled through the tiny streets in the C32, parked up outside the front of the town hall had a quick beer in the square to calm my nerves then got married.

Blimey you know what you want!

Did you buy it from a dealer/trader?

I had been keeping an eye this example for the last 6 months. I initially went to look it over as a casual onlooker asked a few questions and left it a that. The external condition at the time was mediocre and I found the trader lacked knowledge of the car.

Plus, the C32 is a rare car and in Italy even more so. I wonder if this model would become a classic or a collector's car in the future?

Rude not to negotiate a deal as it was sitting in the trader's warehouse for 6 months.

I wonder if any modern MB;s will ever become classics...

Thanks Marty359,

Congrats on the wedding at the Siena town hall. If you are ever back this way let me know. I have seen pics of your car and really nice looking too. I hope to bring mine upto your standard of maintenance.

BTW those 18in AMG IVs on yours I presume they are the originals and not replicas? If so, has your car been lowered or riding on original suspension? I ask because it is one of the first things I want mod.

Thanks!

Excellent choice of car well done on you purchase. I have had my C32 for nearly 2 years and love it.

Over here even on the Italian MB forums there are not any threads at all, though those on there seem to like the car, but never really driven them. So, that got me thinking (dangerous .. I know!) regarding the collectability of it, the C32.

@ mika, I really need to organise myself to be back in Cheshire inline when a Bluewater meet is to be held. Of course, I'll drive over in the C32.

I hope to pick it up this coming Friday if all goes well, though there are some touch up work and wheels to be refurbished (really poor care by the previous owner) are required. I have a build sheet for the car and will post it with a few pictures.

Yep! - There will be a roll of C32 threads coming your way very soon as it will be a keeper, me thinks. Firstly, the looks right (i.e. 18in AMG IVs originals, clear headlights, suspension setup, etc.), identify all issues and resolve for the long-term, and finally some mods. But, to keep everything within the AMG ethos - a stealth Q car.

One question, the car's paint code is 744U (silver or bright silver) and being an 8 year old car, would it be difficult to match up with the original body paint? I am mulling on the idea of a respray for the bonnet and wing?

Yes the wheels are originals ive had 2 new rears due to cracks so if you buy a used set have a very close look first.New ones are very expensive as I found out :(

I still have the standard suspension, I thought about lowering it but it seems to feel every bump as it is so did'nt bother.

Winter Mode OMG! .. What's it like in Sport Mode???

Ok ... I picked up the C32 this evening. It was unfortunately, wet, drizzly, and greasy road surface.

Oh, so smooth is the engine, inside it felt so quiet (probably too quiet, but a good thing). and the gearchanges smooth even as I pulled onto the road no jerk at constant 1500rpm, but will repeat tomorrow morning.

I thought, driving it home being my 'new' car, I will take it easy. Well, that was blown after a filled up with premium. Now warmed up, the throttle response was a little too rapid though and need to get use to the power. So, playing it safe I switched it to Winter mode, but I still with short upshifts, it was sheer pleasure to have the back end step out and hold it on throttle. I promise I did not push it hard.

Handling was impeccable given the road condition. In L-R-L or R-L-R combinations it was sublime, the car felt tight and solid given its 8 years, the engine response was immediate with bags of torque (Winter mode).

So. how much difference is there with Sport mode? Either way, I can't wait to try :D:D

One thing was apparent - a very wide grin every time I accelerated or kicked down, or through L-R combinations.

As soon as I have cleaned it and taken pictures I will post some here.

sounds awesome... great purchase mate...

In Standard Mode its a lot faster of the mark, it will pin you in your seat all the way upto 50 mph. Recommend you only try it in the summer.........I also found that with VV style tyres the back fish tails off the mark. Loads of fun, but brown trousers time.....

Ok, tried it again this morning and can confirm there is no jerk 1500rpm.

Once warmed up, after 10km, with an known open twisty road, I had the ESP light up and flash like a Christmas tree .. .hehe.. great fun. OK, the road conditions today are not ideal, but on-power oversteer fun. Promised to wash the car today to take a few pictures, but not a chance as the weather is bad - sorry folks.

What are VV style tyres? I have Continental SC2s on mine all around.
