Are the brakes that bad on a standard C-Class?

I also notice you opted for the composite disc for the fronts, why was that? My C63 has the standard discs (not PP or PPP) and they're just fine - and a good £1000 per pair cheaper too.

I'm not sure this mod makes any sense. If it were me, I'd have sold my C-Class (unspecified engine size) and bought a C63 with that cash, then run it for a good few years with the cash you've spent on the brake conversion. That's just my opinion of course.
