Forged wheels

If I was paying two and a half bags for a set of aftermarket wheels, I'd expect a daily update, so don't be too hard on yourself pal!

Give it a few months once the wheels are on your car and all this will be a distant memory, try not to let it worry you. :thumb:

Completely agree.
When I was querying the transportation methods of the wheels, James at Projex was telling me how they're accustomed to delivering £10k+ wheels.

I couldn't understand how this was relevant :dk:

What also amazed me, was that when he called me and mentioned this thread, he said he was close to cancelling my order?!:confused::dk:

That kind of fired me up which then led to our lengthy chat.
After talking and getting our points across, we sorted things out.

All I expect is to be appreciated as a customer and to be catered for appropriately.

I understand what James was saying in that if there is nothing to report, why should they ring, and I also appreciate that they must have a lot of customers to deal with but I said that when I go into another weekend having heard nothing (especially when they said they'd call me), it tends to wind me up and spoil my weekend.

But you're right, I'm just looking forwarded to getting the wheels and fitting them onto the car.
Once I receive them and check they're in perfect condition, I'll feel a lot happier.

About as relevant as him telling you what he likes on his sandwiches for lunch...

If I was waiting for over a month for some 2.5k wheels which were meant to take 3 weeks, and the company hadn't contacted me off their own backs, I think i would have told him to go ahead...

Hey bud :thumb:

Yes, I was a bit confused by where he was coming from

But I put it down to things just coming to a head and chatted to him about things.

We managed to sort things out and move forward.

I hear what you're saying though.

And the wheels and tyres came to a smidge over £4000 in total and it will be 7 weeks from the time of initially contacting them about wheels and receiving them

But, in fairness, it seems to have been the factory that added 3 weeks to the process by mucking up the order

£4000!!!!! Jesus I hope you like them when they arrive!!!!!

Really looking forward to pictures!!!

Whoever gave him the heads up re the Forum and your thread certainly got his attention and woke him up, as far as his communication skills go.

Hope everything turns out okay for you tomorrow, Rash.

As above, pressed wrong button.

Lol, yes, alittle more than I previously would have spent on wheels

But I thought that I should treat the car to some decent, light wheels at some point.... see what all this forged business was all about  :D

It's one of those things that if I don't do it, I'll always wish I had.

As for liking them when they arrive... lol.. Me too!

I'll post up pics as soon as I can.

Wheels are due to arrive tomorrow...

Hey bud, hope you are well :thumb:

Yes, as Lee said, it's a shame that it takes the mention of a forum to provoke a response from some people :(

But I don't think the knowledge of this thread provoked any real change in approach from the guys at Projex. It seems that they were given the heads-up about this thread which then prompted James to mention it when we spoke.

But it's worth noting that this thread wasn't started as a result of anything. I started this thread before I had even contacted Projex.

As I mentioned to James, it's merely an account of my wheel-buying process.

Yes, I'm hoping everything will go well tomorrow when the wheels arrive. I'll need to check them all over first, but if they're all good, I can chill and set to work waxing them before fitting them to the car.

James at Projex said he would call me today to confirm they have been collected from them by the transport lorry... which I'm assuming will be any moment now :dk:

please can you weight your forged alloys before you put tyres on them, and if possible, weight the OEM alloys too for comparison

you might add he weighs them before waxing too!

i dont think Rash has oem wheels at the moment.

i can weight an oem E55 alloy over the weekend, obviously front and rear will be different weights.

Hey bud, hope you are well :thumb:

No, actually the wheels I'm getting are BC Forged.

I'll keep which ones they are to myself until I've got them and taken pictures ;)

Check out Projex's website whenever you get a moment. They can get hold of a wide range of wheels.

I'll get some pictures up of mine as soon as poss.

Hi Rashman, i am good, thanks! Will look forward to the pics. Glad you have been keeping up the thread. I had previously looked at projex as they seem to be one of the few uk suppliers of hre. Some cool alloys on there. Especially BC. Can't wait to see what you got!
Cheers

I thought Rash kept his OEM alloys ..

E55 alloys are wider than CLK63, aren't they?

Hey bud :thumb:

I was reading up on your recent adventure in the CLS!
Sounds like you had a great time!
Glad to hear you are keeping it too!

The guys at Projex will be fitting tyres to the wheels before sending them to me so I won't be able to weigh the wheels on their own I'm afraid.

As Alps says, the rear will weigh more than the fronts.

I'm expecting the fronts to weigh in at around 8.8-9kg (possibly even a touch more) and I'm expecting the rears to, realistically, weigh in at around 10-10.5kg (the rears are 19" and 10" wide).

Then of course the weight of the tyres.

I will try and get some scales and see what they're saying though.
I'm also interested to see what my current wheels weigh in at - I know they're pretty heavy each time I take them off the car!

Alps, my boy!

Lol, yes, I'll have to add a few fluid ounces to account for the wax. lol

And yes, you're right, I don't have the original wheels. I sold them to Greg shortly after getting the car some years ago.

No, sold the originals to Greg a while back.

And yes, I suspect the E55 wheels are wider than the original CLK63 wheels.
My original wheels were 18" diameter, 8" wide at the front and only 8.5" wide at the rear, if I remember correctly.

Yes, Projex certainly are able to get hold of a wide range of wheels - from cheap and cheerful, to very expensive.

And yes, Projex do seem to be one of the larger suppliers.

They are present on a few forums.
I've seen them on GTROC, for example. I have a few friends on there and saw one of their threads while I was on there.

They could do well with the Mercedes/AMG crowd if they wanted to.

I'll post up pictures as soon as I can.

Still waiting for a call from Projex to say they are on the way....

Just heard from James at Projex..

Wheels are being picked up from theirs at around 2pm and they should be with me some time tomorrow

James packaged the wheels and bolts himself and said that he will also be sending me a gift package :dk:

... Hopefully not a claymore or swarm of killer bees :D lol

It was good to hear from him and it sounds like he is doing all he can to ensure the wheels arrive safely.

He said that he checked the wheels over (they're all good), took a few pictures of the wheels (which he will send over to me) and said that they look awesome in the flesh

Communication is good. Feeling alot better and very excited
:thumb:

Nice one they certainly cant accuse you of being impatient wonder what the gift will be?
Any guesses?
Locking wheel bolts? wheelwax?

Tony.
