Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

Wouldn't be surprised if the issue of potential for retrospective legal action/litigation is high on Liberty Media's list of concerns. They will I suspect be hoping that someone else comes up with advice on how to proceed so as to minimise their own liability if things go pear-shaped. Who that someone else is or should be is anyone's guess.

I'll take a guess that the first wrangle is that even though the circuit operator's costs would be lower without spectators to contend with, the lack of gate money would scupper them. Do they not pay for the right to host the event? A point of contention over the years that has nearly seen the likes of the British GP cancelled. There'll be sport - blinkmanship.

The owners of the first circuit in line to hold the the first double header of 2020 are very good at knowing how to spend in motorsport, and their cars aren't too shabby there either....:dk:

Various sites reporting Vettel to leave Ferrari at the end of the year. Seems they can't reach agreement on a new contract...

I don't really blame Seb to be fair. Over the past few years it's been interesting to see and hear from Seb, the man himself instead of seeing his yesteryears finger waving wins where he appeared quite arrogant. I've found him recently to be quite a character and likeable and some of his losses apart from his obvious mistakes haven't gone unnoticed how pitwall strategy left him on the points he has.

How many World Champs have Ferrari took on and spat on with little success? From memory haven't Ferrari had a WDC sat nearly every year since the early 90's apart from 97? I'm sure Charles wasn't taken on to be a number 2 driver but as Seb didn't deliver the results that "could have, should have been" Seb looked a tad lost from those results, which seem to now favour Charles. Would the next driver have to be number 2 to Charles? Is favouring youth over experience the right direction and would youth be able to bring the team forward like Alonso and Seb did?

Seb has probably sat at home spending some quality time with his family that probably has never happened before thinking it over and thought stuff 'em ..... While Ferrari were the "go to" team I don't see that now. Mercedes have taken that role. I also can't see Lewis going to Ferrari and why would he want to while Toto is the boss and doing a grand job.

Maybe Sainz to Ferrari and Danny Ric to McClaren.

Whoever fills that seat. Good luck to them as if they fail the Ferrari fans will rip them apart.

Well that's put the wheels in motion for the carousel to start. RIC will definitely be looking to move although if LeClerc is going to be Ferrari's favourite then I can't see him going there. Sainz to Ferrari and Danny Ric to McLaren seems more feasible. Depends on who else moves around now!

I'd flip a coin - 50:50 that Lewis Hamilton ends up at Ferrari next year.

I think that of the current drivers the only ones Ferrari would make a play for and pay big money would be MV or LH. But MV is in contract to Red Bull.

It would be a 50:50 call for LH too. He may feel that he has little to lose and everything to gain. Winning the WDC with three different constructors - and doing it for Ferrari has to have its attractions regardless of how strong the relationship is with Mercedes and the risks of going to Ferrari.

Th Seb and Ferrari split just seems to be a loss of confidence on both sides. Slight at first and then a downward spiral.
We should not really be surprised, at that level you need both parties to be fully and completely onboard. The financial markets have been working that way for very long time, but I do believe Seb when he says it nothing to do with money.

I believe him too. Could be the fact the no.1 status was not being offered (my guess).

I think if Toto leaves MB, Lewis will too.

Although run under a different agreement, the Moto GP at Silverstone in 2018 had a delayed start, ran something like 2 laps then was red flagged due to rain and waterlogged track. The suspicion was this was done as it enabled the organisers to claim the event took place and avoid refunds...

I’d be more than happy with Danny Ric at McLaren.

Also, I always wonder if Red Bull had let their drivers race without supporting Seb throughout the years if he would have racked up 4 WDC?

He is obviously an awesome driver but given Danny Ric beat him at Red Bull and CLC also has the upperhand at Ferrari he doesn’t always seem to be able to beat his teammate (without team assistance).

I agree with posts above, he’s a more likeable character of late but I assume that like many, comes with age and maturity.

I’d love to see Max at Ferrari but as already said his contract will be challenging (if impossible) to get out of.

The above I think. Are Toto's plans known yet?

I read the Ecclestone interview with Autocar and he made the point that at Mercedes Lewis has all the support he needs/wants (BE believing support being a critical element). He expressed doubt that the same level of support would be available for LH at Ferrari with CLC there.

And Mercedes have had NR and VB to compare him with as well. They know his talent and understand the charactertics of his work ethic and style..

The one reason I don't think Lewis will go to Ferrari is because Mercedes allows him to have his lifestyle. His fashion career etc is important to him, as well as basically being allowed to do what he wants. Mercedes have allowed this (with positive results) but I'm not sure Ferrari would and would be a deal breaker for him.
