Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

Was McLaren as dominant then as MB are now? I can't recall

Pyschologically I think Red Bull were seen as newcomers with McLaren and Ferrari seen as the top contenders. (Last Ferrari WDC was 2007!). Mercedes were well backed but just didn't seem to be getting anywhere - so given what had happened with the likes of BMW, Honda, and Toyota it looked like the future was more about the likes of competent non-works teams like Red Bull and McLaren and Ferrari ready to come back at any time for new glory. Martin Whitmash and Christian Horner Stefan Domenicali were all very visible and communicative team p[rinciples (compared with the likes of Ron Dennis and Jean Todt). Toto Wolf wasn't well know.

I don't think anybody expected MB to advance the way they did.

True - an assumption on my part, based on some of your previous posts...Apologies if that is not the case...

Apology not required.

But I haven't owned a MB since 2013. That said I have clocked a lot of miles in the last 18-24 months in MBs. But these have been rentals.

I take back the comment about Petrobas - it was meant to be slightly flippant as we all draw the line somewhere different....

We can’t all be Greta and I suspect many of us don’t want to be

Anyway back on topic...I wonder how much the shorter layout this weekend will impact strategy and the result?

Re-read my post John. I never once asked for a clip of Jules B's incident, nor do I ever want to see it. I merely said that I do not recall seeing footage during Sky F1 coverage. I clearly remember the camera cutting to the pit lane.
Oops a daisy, I must be on a roll today. Twas definitely sky Sports and as you rightly say we do not want to see these events over and over.

So what you are saying is that if Hamilton had more respect for his boss then both he and the team may be successful?

Is it my turn to suggest that you re-read my posts? :) Hopefully I have never stated what you are suggesting and don't you just hate it when folks try telling us what we are 'saying'?

Hats off to Nicki Lauda and Ross Brawn for persuading Hamilton to move. How many pundits at the time said that was a good move? Hand on heart I thought it was a mistake ::) :) (Got that wrong)

Not sure who is my favourite team. I supported McLaren when Senna drove for them, then Williams when Mansell was their man, but boy he was good in the Ferrari. We come from a small village in Lincolnshire just outside of a town called Bourne and ALL F1 fans know why Bourne is famous??? I know, I know, I can hear you all shouting the answer. yup twas the home of BRM and yes, I was a huge fan of that team. Not so long ago we had both Damon Hill and Sir Jackie Stewart driving F1 cars along the High Street and Spalding Road, what a noise.

I'm not suggesting Nigel Mansell had a big head but....... The camera never lies :)

I see the FIA are looking at the accident, think they are looking at the driver that hit the Hulk and spun him off, there has been lots about the Hulk moving over but the driver behind is not there to cause a accident, still we will see what comes of it,they have improved the crash barrier and added loads of tyres,I see George is saying he is under no pressure driving the Mercedes car,

I think you must mean Kvyat. The Hulk wasn't driving any car at Bahrain.

To much drink this afternoon, meant Grosjean, who was it behind him was it the williams driven by Latifi,,suspect they will want to know if he knows where the break is in that wiilliams.no idea why I put the Hulk.

I think Grosjean having pulled to the right, made contact with Kvyatt’s car, that seems to me to be the critical point at which Grosjean’s car left the circuit. Don’t think there was much Kvyatt could do, but I guess all will become clear in due course.

I dont understand all the heroism for Grosjeon.
To me he fully to blame for the incident.
He crossed the track wildly into kyvats path, launched himself, then when traction reconnected it jettisoned him into the barrier as he he still had his right foot down.

Yes 100% happy he is fine and hardly injured after the horrific accident, wouldn't wish that incident on anyone.

But driver of the day and a heros welcome for causing a near death accident?

If this was dashcam footage of unknowns the reactions would be totally different

You’re all heart aren’t you? 😊

not sure he had his foot down. The 4 black lines en route to the barrier would indicate all 4 wheels locked?

Its not about being all heart, its about being honest.

Can you hand on heart say Grosjean wasn't the instigator of his destiny in that

Just because it was a bad crash doesn't mean he wasn't to blame.

Agree with the sentiment that you wouldn't wish that crash on anybody but from the very first replay of the incident I thought Grosjean was 100% the cause by pulling across Kvyat.

If a member of your family or a friend was involved in an accident that was 100% their fault I’m sure you’d be somewhat relieved that they survived relatively unscathed and give them a hero’s welcome home.
