Formula 1 2022 (Will Contain Spoilers)

I ask myself if RB are really that stupid that they would deliberately overspend (and in the grand scheme of things the sum is peanuts) and believe that it would not be picked up?
I ask myself how every other team managed to not overspend?

Frankly, it smacks of RBR"s arrogance and willingness to play the victim when caught out. “Suck it up” is my advice to Horner et al.

Your hatred of RB has been well established but changes nothing.;)

RB have no choice but to suck it up and are doing so.

I doubt it’s hatred of RB on anyone’s part. It’s the cheating/moaning/whinging that’s the issue regardless of the team in question. 🤷‍♂️

Now that Seb has gone for 2023 there is only Fernando left to give an irreverent post race interview. Had hopes for Russel but he has turned into a corporate robot when it comes to the media.

Did Merc. remove the FTX scam from the cars?

More likely they made a mistake - probably pushing the accounting rules to the limit in the same way the technical rules are pushed to the boundaries.

By far the most exciting race of the season (unfortunately not great for my team ☹️)

Lots of action from start to finish. Alonso was awesome. Russel super cool- Chuffed for him.

If ever there was an example of Max’s petulance/arrogance he shamefully broadcast it on the very last lap. No willing to obey team orders or repay Checo for his assistance over the last few years 👎. Tail firmly wagging the dog.

Leclerc was getting a bit salty when his crew chief told him it was unsafe to let Sainz slow down and let him pass and therefore give up a podium. All for 3 extra points and keeping ahead of Checo.
I imagine there will be conversations within the team with an unhappy Leclerc.

On a happier note, finally Mercedes show some good form and a perfect 1-2.
Verstappen b1tching about his collision with Hamilton totally expected. He can't accept he is at fault.

I didn't see anything but a sea of smiling faces at the circuit. The locals obviously enjoyed it, as I did in front of my TV.
But doubtless there will be somebody along soon to tell us how bad it was and how they could have done things much better.....

I liked Martin Brundle's comment that he had tried his very best, but was very glad there was finally a GP winner from Kings Lynn.
A good attitude :thumb:

The petulance and apparent arrogance really don’t do the sport (any sport, actually) any favours. Mactech will know the answer to this, but I did wonder whether the team engineers might have sufficient control to temporarily reduce power in a situation like this, to enforce team orders. Probably a thousand and one really good reasons why they’d never do it even if they could!

It will never happen but I’d love to see RB pull in the reserve driver for the last race of the season. Send little boy Max a firm message as to who is boss. Drivers and constructors in the bag so nothing to lose. And with all seats set for next season, it’s not like Max could easily jump ship.

It’s like Horner has no control/respect as team boss. Just like the Multi-21 farce. Can’t imagine Totto or Gunther not blowing their top publicly. 😤

Confess amongst others here, I've been guilty of an anti Redbull/Max Verstappen bias. Yesterday Max proved yet again why some of us feel like that. What an absolute jerk, Checo should give him a good smack. He will never be a great champion in my eyes. For a while now I've changed channel when he is being interviewed and will continue to do so.

Other than that, a great race and for once the outcome wasn't spoiled by the safety cars.

Aye. A Checo 600psi right on the nose. 😊😁🤭

I always think back to something I read back in the 1970's which was that F1 winners may have massive talent, but you wouldn't want one as your next door neighbour. The clever ones have the skill to (some mostly, others always) hide their nasty streak from the public. The less clever ones don't.

Max is a huge driving talent, but he lacks class. Back in the days of James Hunt another driver would have lumped him one by now.
