Heated seats... coming soon!

I just cut the connector off the matts, soldered spade connectors to the end and pushed them into the MB connector.

Yes but I will have to find them again.
I did post on here.

Your loom looks to have different connectors to mine.... Still will have a play tomorrow and get them going one way or another!!

Cheers for all the help guys.

D K Schweizer £499 plus vat supply and fit fronts seats, they put switches down on seat base near seat controls, i would prefer them fitted to dash. if anyone is interested.

Yeah they do indeed. My seat pads from them (supply only) came with their wiring loom and switches.

Doing it the way this thread details is not only cheaper, but to the untrained eye, no one need know that it's a retrofit.

All in the parts to do this have cost me under £200 (was lucky getting the switch pack for £40- Over £200 from MB) but when it's all done and resale time comes, it will definitely add more than £200 to the price of the car. So it's win win.

Worth noting that the pads now supplied by DK (real nice people to deal with BTW, or at least Rob and Tara are) are not the same as shown is this excellent thread. They are a lot shorter. Seems they had some warranty issues with the previous ones.
Took a bit of tracking down but I've located 645mm carbon pads (can be cut to length) which are available direct from a company in Germany by the name of 'Nolden cars and concepts' who also supply DK. Again great company to deal with, refreshing change these days!
EU114 for 4 pads delivered (no harness or switches). They even accept paypal so long as you cover their fees :thumb:
Google them or PM me if you need details as I do not wish to post their personal details on an open forum.

Anyone got the harness plugs which plug into the DK pad connectors they are willing to part with?
Need them until I can track down the MB part numbers shown in the pic above - already spent too much on the wrong ones :doh:not easy to identify on EPC :wallbash:

I have lost the old invoice but I have the plugs in the viano so will get the number in the morning.

Hmm mine were supplied from DK 3 weeks ago and I still had to cut the backs a bit as did Azaman.

I agree though I spoke to Tara and Rob and they were great to deal with!!

This weekend I took the seats out and have fitted the pads. The first seat took ages, the second in about 30 mins lol. My connectors on the MB loom are completely different and don't fit anywhere on the connector block in the seat. It's defo the same loom part no but never mind I will sort it!!

Wednesday I'm off work and will hopefully finish the install. Can only thank Azaman again for this DIY as it's bang on!!

Cheers.

Pads DK supplied me were 435mm long. OK for the back and the family jewels but do not run the full length of the base. DK said they were the only ones they now stock.
The ones from Nolden are way too long and a little cheaper if you do not want the harness.
The MB harness I have is part number A203 540 71 34 and appears to have the square plugs shown in the pic above. Bit of a rats nest is that harness, all for 1 fused supply, 2 switched feeds and 2 earths!
Not much use right now tho' as I can't find the part numbers for the mating plugs & terminals, already spent a tenner on the wrong bits and am reluctant to bodge the harness.
So until that puzzle is solved I'm still looking to find mating plugs for the ones supplied with the pads - anyone?

Hmm strange- your loom P/N is different to the one I have ordered. I have A203 440 51 13 as described in post 3 in this thread.

My connectors are very different though. Will post a pic later.

Just as a slight update. I completed this task 2 weeks ago, all in and working great!! I do have just one issue though!!

The passenger side occupancy sensor thinks someone is sitting in the seat, it must be because of the heat mat as there are no air bag lights on and with the passenger side seat belt plugged in before it used to disable the passenger side air bag. Now when its just plugged in, it cancels the seat belt light. So it must be the heat mat.

Annoying but not sure what I can do. I have purchased a buckle off of eBay to plug in when no one is sitting in the passenger seat and all is fine. Might whip the seat out and see if I can adjust the mat but it will do for now!!

Having just replaced my cloth interior with a leather one, the new front seats were not heated so I ordered and fitted the DK heatpads to my seats. I too was concerned about the seat sensor.
I just made sure the cable was not laying on the sensor pad and the connector in the pad was clear of it too.
The only way you are going to cure it is to remove the seat cover and find out what is pressing on the pad.
I also asked Rob at DK if it was okay to run the pad under the metal bar in the seat base and he said it would be fine so the pad heats the full length of base.
Tony

Yeah I will take it out and have a look. I too ran the pads under the bar so it heats the full base.

I'm really impressed with them and the very little costs associated with the DIY too!!

zenman63, can you say part numbers for the pin housings and the pins from mats side? Thanks!

Yes I have some numbers, I had to take my Viano seat apart yesterday to change the foam and have found as follows.
The plug housing that clips to the seat frame. A0009140127
This is half the plug A029 545 08 28.
Faurecia 8301828L this is a vano heated seat pad, this would fit other cars if we can find a direct dealer as it come with the plug fitted.
The two pads have half a plug each that snap together to make one square plug.

The other half of the plug A029 545 09 28

Pins x54/29.A2 and A1.

looks like you could buy the heater pads from a 906 and make them fit any seat.

A000 906 17 00 back rest element
A000 906 16 00 seat cushion
Theses will come with the plugs on and will trim to fit.

zenman63, thank you very much! It's quite the thing!

Just picking up on this thread.

Am I right to assume if I purchase the following as per zenman63's post:

A000 906 17 00 back rest element
A000 906 16 00 seat cushion

The pads can be cut and fitted to my 203 coupe? I am finding it difficult to find them on EPC under the generic 203 with all options.

Many thanks
