Car is on the ramp now only had the car 4 days before crimbo

It's C63 amg with ppp 60 reg just a year old with 7k on the clock

On cold start right hand exhausts pump out blue smoke

Service are saying they could fix it but as most of us know blue smoke on cold start usually means valve oil stems I don't think I should keep it or back it back to the dealer

Also there are the tale tale signs of oil drips in the right pipes and not on the left V/exhaust

Thanks in advance

Are you in agreement that is the problem

I'm livid!!!!!

Sounds like you are bob on. but I'm not mechanically qualified I can only talk a good breakdown.

If in doubt kick it out.

Take it back.

Blue smoke = oil = serious.

When you take it back please don't forget to tell them that newer cars worse than the older versions

without doubt burning oil, needs sorting fast, good luck.

that engine has been described as "bomb proof"
i would take it straight back and get it fixed

:(

As the other guys get it back to dealership, its under warrenty it will get fixed.
Whilst not a 63, my 55 had oil consumption issures very early, ended up two of the barrels had scracthes down them, hence oil burning, on second complaint, they had engine out and whole new engine fitted, whist its aggrivation, it will get fixed.
Hope it all goes well

No contest , back to the dealers, with steam coming out your ears

They have told me that all AMG's have blue smoke on start up

If there is oil visibly dripping out of the tailpipes (which I presume is what you are saying above) then something has seriously let go. Sounds to me to be rather more than just valve stem seals to get oil down the exhausts in that quantity.

I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere about Dieselman, C63s and oil-burners...

Hope you get it sorted satisfactorily.

63's do use oil and do puff out blue smoke on first start up. But if you say oil is dripping out of a tailpipe then that is not right :o

That is not cool.. ..
Whilst a higher performance engine often runs wider or "managed" bearing clearances, with resultant higher oil consumption, oily pipes on such a low milage car is not cool. Its not like they run only two rings on the pistons or anything. It is still a road car, and oil will damage the cats also. And a couple of grand for the OEM replacement, you'd want that checked too. ..
Whilst valve stem seals I imagine is most likely, as stated above, if it is bore damage, its a big problem...

Best of luck.

If it's a year old don't worry at all, it's under warranty and will get fixed :thumb:

Make sure they provide a suitable loaner :)

I can never understand why people get excited and make a big noise when a car has a problem when under the manufacturers warranty cover, just take it back to be fixed.

With only 7k miles on the clock it could be that the rings need a good caning to make them seat better in the bores.

Thing is I don't want a used £55 grand motor that has had open heart surgery so soon of owner it especially when it is a hand built engine that is supposed to be built proof rather give it back and let then have the issues and not me after 2 and a bit weeks

So the issue isn't really about fixing the fault then?

C63-ness raises it's head again...Groan...:doh::wallbash:

Well - to be fair, the original 'hand built' engine has already proved to be not 100% reliable :o

If the engine needs major work then I would think MB would probably arrange a service exchange unit and swap it straight over :)

The good thing is it's all under warranty, so whatever it needs will be done :thumb:

For years v6 and v8 Mercedes engines have used excessive amounts of oil and also smoke on start up, but as said there is a know problem with a batch of 6.2 engines that burn too much oil, I'd demand a replacement engine, but knowing Mercedes it will be stripped irrespective to examine the internals.
