Hi

Must admit to being a a bit lax when the car went in for its service (I had a lot on a work and took the main stealer on trust that the work was indeed, very necessary)

Going through car(s) paperwork tonight to check up on MOT dates etc I had a look through what they did when it was in for its A service last July and am none the cleaner.

I admit it, I said yes, picked the car up and forgot about it (the shame!)

Right...
What was / is?
1. V Belt replace single belt drive (£69.30)
2. Bearing on both Torque Struts replace (£198.00) - v bad apparently:eek:

They also advised brakes were getting worn -still 40% life in them  (half full....!) so I didn't give in there

They quoted me then £361 inc Vat to change what looks like just the front pads, discs and sender units.
This looks expensive (£150 a corner really)
What price could I / Should I pay down here?

2nd MOT is due mid Feb so will have brakes looked at again and am allowing for getting the brakes done - all four corners (there is corrosion and on rear) - (I'm still 10k off next service)

PPS I am correct in asuming I only have to have the servicing done at a MBZ main dealer for Mobilo?

All advices appreciated

Looking at the picture of your car it looks to me like an ex Bank of Scotland/Halifax company car (background in the picture seems to be the same as all our old cars when they go through auction). Only reason I ask is I would be tempted if it was an ex bank car to contact our fleet admin for a list of every piece of work done while in the fleet. That way you know what was done prior to ownership and can judge what in fact may need done again or if the dealer is pulling your leg.

Might be barking up the wrong tree here on the strength of a picture but if it helps it may save you some cash in the long run if the dealer is at it.

A keen eye Simon:cool:

Hitachi Capital to be precise, (through carsite.co.uk -another story!) but on the basis that I had the work done in July and whats up next are brakes and the MOT I don't see a lot of point contacting them -

I did get a run through from MB CS when I bought it (spec sheet and MB dealer works list) so I do have list - on the basis that a company car only goes near a main dealer.

Thanks for the suggestion though

Still looking for advice folks, on,

what those bits were?
Price for brakes / discs?

Cheers

I've had the rear pads, shoes and discs done on my C180K saloon and that came in at £250 ish from Kwik fit - benefit was they are then covered by the lifetime guarantee they offer.
My front now has a warped disc and I'm quoted about £160ish for vented discs and the green stuff pads to be supplied and fitted.

As a suggestion you could contact Ian Walker (on the forum) from 124works. Top guy and I'm still thinking I'll contact him for supply of the parts for my front brakes to save me some cash - however having just forked out for front coil spring replacement and not yet in possession of the refund from the warranty co that work is on hold for now.

As for the V - belt, I'm not sure on that but again it may be something Ian could at least advise on??.

Simon, Thanks for the rep but Oliver is on the gents doorstep (BlackC55). I am certain Oliver could advise better than I.

Fair comment Ian, never even thought of that - not good with geography and where the experts are.

To be honest still gobsmacked by the knowledge in this forum.

Fabes - I think you have your starter for 10!;)

Ollie

Your thoughts and advise on the above are being recommended by 'the Ian'

Cheers
