e270 cdi brabus kitted and carlsson rimmed
hi, im new to this forum and have just bought my first merc. its a eclass 2003 in black. ive been offered 20 inch alloys from a sl w129 for peanuts and was wondering if they would fit my w211 eclass and how would i make them fit for example different bolts. i think the offset is et26 but i dont know what it is for a w211. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

what width are they, and is the offset different front and back?

sorry for the late reply guys. offset is the same front and back. not sure on width but tyres fitted are 245/35/20, at the moment i have got carlsson replicas and are 235/35/19 offset 36 and are 1.5 inches away from the arch lip if i lower the car. is it possible to skim the inside of the wheels down to make them fit as ive been told by an engineer that this is possible. also is the pcd the same for eg. 112/114. thanks

Whats the offset. For a start the tyres are the wrong size. On the e-class a 20" rim would need a 25 profile tyre, which I dont think is available. Even if it was, the first pothole you hit you'll get a bulge on the side wall, and you'll have to run very high tyre pressure too.

A 211 320cdi uses an offset of 30-34 max, more normal 30 for 8½ and 31 for 9½ so no problems with the offset and near enough to an SL.

offset is 26, my mate has 20" on his 320cdi and has 255/35/20 allround so the tyre size should be ok.

I'd be very surprised if his ABS, speedo and cruise control worked properly with those wheels and tyres.

At the risk of being flamed - 20" wheels on a road car in this country is just stupid - the ride quality would be horrendous - every pothole a nightmare and the car would track the camber of the road with the standard caster setup terribly.

Furthermore - on a diesel?  :o
