Various.
Here's the scenario.

Got a 2001 W210 with 2 auto folding, auto dimming mirrors & no EIS key to turn the car on to fold them back in order to gain access to the screws.

These mirrors are fantastically expensive to buy bit by bit - nearly £700 each for a complete one with the cover £65-ish, the motor £50-ish, the frame £240-ish & the glass £290-ish, so I'd really like to get the pair off intact.

Is there a way to get them in the folded back position? Can I just use gentle, firm pressure & push them into the folded position or will this damage them? The car is a breaker so attacking the problem from the inside of the door is an option.

Perhaps if you can get at the wiring connector , you can apply voltage to the appropriate pins ?

I guess brown will still be ground , maybe someone has access to a wiring diagram for pin assignment ?

Hi,
You can just gently push them into the folded position.

Failing pushing them gently into position, you could park on a supermarket carpark, quite close to the next car, and wait for them to take it off, problem solved. !!!!!!!!!! LOL:D

If I had a key to drive it to the supermarket car park I wouldn't need to drive it to the supermarket car park to get 'help' removing them!

I'll give the gentle pushing technique a go & see how I get on.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the advice boys, mirrors successfully removed without damage. They're for sale & I will part them out if anyone is interested.

I persume that you got these from a breakers yard, not prowling the streets in the middle of the night.

They do seem to have a VERY serious design flaw in that once parked with the mirrors folded away it would take an enterprising jack the lad 2 minutes to make off with about £700 worth of mirror & completely ruin your morning.

Nah, I'm a live & let live kinda guy. They're doing me no harm.

Weeds are just grass growing in a place other than the lawn.

Hi,
Would you split them?
I have these fitted to my C43 202, and one of the folding motors is knackered.
