Firstly I am allergic to Apple products (lolol). In our Galaxy we have a permanently-connected iPod - its about 4 years old.
Mrs and daughter want to load some more songs on.
The issue is that the laptop we initially used to set it up with itunes went to the pc scrapyard some time ago. Since then new laptops have been purchased but these already have itunes on them (for my wifes iphone, and my daughters laptop for her own iphone). So we can't just merrily connect up the car iPod to any of those machines otherwise all hell will break loose playlist/collection wise!

I have a spare laptop here with a decent capacity and no itunes installed.
Having spent a fruitless hour googling - how do I install itunes on it then connect the offending ipod WITHOUT itunes syncing with the ipod and wiping its music? What we actually want to do is reverse sync it - ie build itunes on the pc from what is on the ipod as a starting point. Tried it years ago and managed to wipe daughters iphone so I do not want to go through that again!!!!

Thanks all, any help appreciated.

Pretty sure that you can select ipod as HDD in iTunes. Pane opens when you connect ipod, just select sync manually, it should not then update automatically. Or I have used Senutti ( not sure of spelling and it worked fine.
