High milage car 100k a year!

The price scares me more than the mileage.

Its a heap of newish car for the money though. It will have been an airport taxi to rack up that sort of usage.

Estates always comand a premium of lest say £750....so its not bad value per se.

Part-exchange Price: Excellent condition: £10800 Average condition: £9630 Below average condition: £8560 Please note: Unfortunately, we don't have a valuation for the requested mileage. However, we can value this car at 150,000 miles.

A few times when I have ordered a normal taxi in the city of an evening I have been pleasantly surprised when a nearly new merc turns up. The standard of driving often leaves a lot to be desired and I have thought to myself I wouldn't like to buy a car that has been used day and night by several drivers without much due care or attention (or mechanical sympathy come to that!)

Still, I suppose they do get properly maintained.

Makes you wonder how many of the other newish e-class type cars have "lost" a couple of hundred thousand miles before sale though. Must be easy as pie to do on a car under 3 years old too - no MOTs recording mileage etc.

Seat wear looks minimal, surprisingly!

We have a Hallmark office on my business park, they are a very professional outfit, none of the cars appear to be taken home by any of the drivers, so it's likely they are operating close to 24 hrs a day which accounts for the starship mileage. They are all also E220 CDi's on my business park.

I'm right by Gatwick airport and all their business seems to be upmarket airport collections.

None of these are marked up as taxi's.

Personally I'd trust it were maintained on schedule...that really is some mileage though.

Hallmark do alot of business with the airlines, taking staff to different airports all over the country hence they are very clean cars. Look for good deals on high mileage Volvo's and Mercedes. The Highest I've seen with them is over 500k on a 211 320cdi.

Look at the listing. The seller is a group who provides transport services throughout the UK for airline's and their staff.

Mileage is right if they were being used by more than one driver throughout the day/night. (As an owner-driver, I did 7,000 miles last month ;))

My concern is that, as mentioned, the driver's of these cars, don't own them, and are more likely to be driven hard/without sympathy, and they look low spec, the only option I can see is the automatic gearbox.

Seat will also wear well as there isn't much getting in and out, if the car has been doing distance transfers, as well as the steering wheel as it's mostly motorway mileage.

Personally, I think these cars make a better buy than those used as a city centre cab/taxi collecting drunks from pub/clubs, shoppers from Tesco etc, even though they'll likely to have less mileage.

At what mileage do you expect to sell your E-class?

Lot of miles which means your getting the business which is good

I'm not! It's worth more to me than its' market value! :) I'll probably keep it running for ever.

It's the Christmas rush, everyone coming back from their holidays, etc... mileage will probably drop to 4-5,000/month.

Back on-topic, I think they're not a bad buy after all... if a chauffeur/exec company, their driver's are likely to have had further/advanced training of some sort.

Also realised they have leather (+auto, metallic), so isn't bad. I'll keep an eye on them, when and if I need to replace my car! ;)

Wow! great! just bought a W211 E320cdi with 175K for £6500, makes me feel better knowing it could go on that long!

Me too!

Looks in surprisingly good condition given the mileage, probably been very well maintained.

Yes, a car used in that way has to be, won't look good to the company if the car breaks down with passengers on board, also it's for their safety.

Also it is mostly likely their cars have been cleaned inside and out every day, so road grime and salt wouldn't have had time to eat into the paintwork.

As the cars are company owned, and may not have been taken home by the drivers, then it probably not been used to carry pets/pot plants/children with sticky fingers, sweets, chocolate etc in the seats/door pockets, etc, not much chance of stray supermarket trolleys dinging the bodywork..

If they used professional drivers (e.g. with experience - Rospa, British Chauffeurs Guild, etc..), then I reckon they're a good buy :thumb:

(I'll take back what I said earlier :o)
