Whats the typical delivery mileage? I notice on a new car I have just purchased but will pick up in September. the clock said 41..Hope it hasnt been used for a few demos!!

I once bought a golf back in 1995 which had 12miles on the clock.

Mine had 3.6miles on it when I picked it up from the Stuttgart factory.

Mine had 16 miles on it when delivered to my home in a closed transporter.

A friend of mine worked on the SLK plant for a year after college... each and every car was driven a few times around their track before it left as a final quality check . So it's only normal to have a mile or two ;)

Back in the 70s I often drove new cars between Lancia dealerships, we disconnected the speedo cable and worked the speed out on the rev counter.
Sometimes I'd add hundreds of pre delivery miles this way, Bristol To St Ives (Cams), Leeds to Bristol, Bristol to Paighton, I assume all marques still do something similar to move dealership stock to where its needed.

Mine had 66 miles, though it was driven down from Mercedes Milton Keynes to my home address (depending which way the driver went, which is 55 miles via M1/A406, or 63 miles via M1/M25/M4).

Which leaves a delivery mileage from the dealership of 11 miles or 3 miles.

41 is a lot for factory received delivery mileage...however if the car was selected at the factory for extensive audit (longer drive test) check OR if a factory fault was detected requiring further driving investigation and rework etc this may explain...the factory build card would show this...

I wouldnt be worried about the delivery miles - it'll only be down to the trainee ragging it about in the car park doing doughnuts for 20 minutes. ;)

Dealer standards generally dictate the car must be below 100 miles to qualify as delivery mileage.

I wouldn't worry tho, the warranty starts from the date of registration. It's likely to have even more by the time you collect it if they're good enough to put fuel in it.

I wouldn't have thought 41 is anything to worry about.

How would one find out this information and would the dealer oblige?

That is unlikely... It's been driven to a showroom by the sounds of it, or a quick spin round the block but nothing to worry about. It's still a brand new, unregistered car, and 41 miles is nothing at all.

It should be 0. It can be re-set once with a Star if it has done less than 250 once.

Some years ago, I came out from playing squash at lunch time. Next to the Leisure Centre was a vast car park, and I used to cut across it to avoid the queue to turn right at the main exit.

At the far end by the other exit was a Cavalier, doing very incompetent donuts and handbrake turns. As I got closer he gave up the fun and headed for the exit. Following him, I noticed it had trade plates on and some of the transport coatings were still visible.

So I followed him all the way the the local Vauxhall dealer and he disappeared down the back to the workshop. Back at work, I phoned later and spoke to the Service Manager. He couldn't give a to$$.

mine has 2.7 miles on it when delivered in a closed truck to the works car park.

Lowest delivery mileage I have ever had.

Fairly sure mine had over 100miles when the lady delivery driver turned up at my house, need to check delivery paperwork(if I could find it??)
