How much do you pay for your Road TAX?

Hi,

£215 for Jan 06 ML320 CDi :bannana::bannana: and (off topic) it's value is increasing (by £1900 since February using "webuyanycar.com" web site) :bannana::bannana:.

Cheers,

£185 for the Shogun
£185 for the W202
£185 for the Voyager
£25 for the Z3 (not in this country - and that includes insurance :p)
£66 on the Ducati
£15 on each of the Cagivas

It all adds up :p

I paid 185 last mnth,

I seriously doubt that!

£185 for the 500SEL (1992)
£185 for the XJS (1995)

Those Ireland figures should make people realise how well off they are!

Seeing as their top band bum r4pe applies to 3 litre and above I'd be discontented with a 3-4litre car and seek to get as much value out of that tax system as possible. I'd look at BMW 760i's (the V8's aren't large enough) and S65AMG's (both 6 litres) so nicely above that 3litre threshold, or used Bentley Arnages. If you going to pay top level tax, you might as well pay it in style and put two fingers up at the sort of people who revel in taxing people out of envy and spite.

I live in France - RFL Cost for cars:

300 SL Zero
Volvo 850 Zero

Insurance very similar to UK

Mot every 2 years

The Irish system is even more extreme than ours - I was shocked at how high the figures were. It's another ill advised "green" tax - take a look on their government website & you'll find road tax isn't set by the Irish Department Of Transport but by the Dept of the Environment:crazy:
Suppose you own a few large engined cars that only come out on high days and holidays and just do a few miles a year - they're hardly going to be big polluters in that case, but still the Irish government will expect you to hand over 1566 euros for each.
If you're serious about dealing with the green issue surely the only sane answer is to scrap the tax disc and pay via fuel duty. The thirstier the car or the greater the mileage you cover, the more you pay. That said I think we already pay more than enough duty on our fuel to allow for the total discontinuation of the road fund licence anyway! Unfortuantely motorists are a very easy target for any Chancellor when times are bad.....
Rant over. :D

We now have the CO2 system here , we use the same figures here as you use in the UK , the only differance is our top band is now 2000 euro .

The new Irish system looks even worse - 2100 Euros for the top band applies to vehicles with over 225g per km - that would mean that even a 2 litre Vauxhall Zafira would pay that !!!

Purchased Jan 09 - 55 Reg C55 AMG - paid £210 for 12 months road tax. I think it should be £400 which is what the dealer told me, but the post office got it wrong...
