£210 for a 2007 C220cdi - rip off
£66 for my bike that has done 1200 miles in 3 years - even more of a rip off.

The company cars at work Ford Focus estates that do 30k a year were free for the 1st year and £35 a year after that. I'm not sure but I think my bike pollutes slightly less at 400 miles a year than a Ford Focus Diesel estate at 30,000 miles a year (fully laden).

And there both due this month, together with my insurance....

Yep, no mercy for large capacity cars over here. Vehicle registration tax is vicious too, I bought the C36 in the UK for £3k and it costs €2700 to register it in Ireland then €1566 to tax for a year, €4266 in total to get it legally on the road, thats £3765.

I bought my ML 270 cdi last week with no tax
I got the road tax Saturday and it cost £210
Next year will be £215

No VED. Its 10p on each litre of petrol and or has been since Jan 2008. And as thats currently about 70p a ltr.........

No VAT,No Council tax, No car tax for new cars either:

Defo a rip off there, the bubble need to explode:

There is no tax for cars. the road is paid for by duty on the petrol/diesel.

Local market 2 bed flats are around £1200-£1700 PCM. An actual House will be above that. Local market only available to those born in the island, or people with a essential housing license. They have population control so it seems sustainable although I seem to be winning the argument for reductions in cost
