Hi there, I am a new member and the new owner of a 1985 W123 230e auto with 77k on the clock.
I can trace the mileage history and milage up to 2008 but not before that, is anyway I can find out a bit more about the car?
Many thanks in advance for your answers.

When do Mercedes records go back to on the database? I've always wondered this myself for future classics

Mercedes moved from physical service books to Digital Service Booklet (DSB) in 2008, so they won't have any earlier service records online.

Even so, the service history will only be recorded for cars serviced by MB dealer or by specialist with access to the DSB system.

Online MOT records are only availae from 2005 onwards.

Anything before that, you will need to rely on receipts/documents.

You could also write to the car's two previous owners (from the previous V5C) and ask for any documnets or information they may have.

MB dealers still had a computer record even when the service books were in use because I got information by ringing up in 1994. I guess it will be an obsolete system now but they might still have access through the new system.

As far as I know this information will be local to the individual MB Dealer or Dealers who actually serviced the car at the time, in which case you'll need to know who they were (and presumably there's no service book for the OP's car, or he wouldn't be asking about mileage history?).

But even so, we regularly upgrade clients CRM databases (across all market sectors), and we are rarely asked to retain more than 6 years back online - I think you were very lucky if your dealer had information available going back that far.

Yes, I already knew which dealer had serviced the car so it probably was a local record.

I have the Mot history up to 20078 but nothing before that. I think it will be difficult tracing earlier owners especially when one of them was an old guy who passed away.
Will call the Mercedes dealership close to me just in case they can dig something up.
