Howto replace blown bulb in electric mirror switch
Having just recently noticed I had a blown bulb I went to the stealers for a replacment just to be told I will have to have a new switch as you cant replace the bulbs.Bo****ks cant you I thought.So heres what I did to prove them wrong.
Step 1 was to remove the switch itself.I wont go into detail here as its been posted before.
On the back of the switch mark off the ends for location when refitting,I used a felt tip pen.When this is done remove the 4 brass pins on each corner.
Be very carfull when pulling apart there are some very small components and even smaller springs.
When disasembled this is the part you will need to remove and unsolder the bulb from.
Replace with the new bulb,I got this one from Maplins Part # BT43W its a 12v 60mA bulb cost just 50p.
New bulb soldered in place.Just needs the excess wire snipped off.
This is what the components look like,The 2 bar bell type pins are set on tiny springs and are held in by just gravity.
Same goes for the top adjustment part of the switch.
All back together ready for fitment.
