HPI Question. Can change of plates hide anything?

I did a HPI check before I bought my car. It all looked clean. I have just re-read it and the wording is slightly ambiguous.

It keeps referring to "this registration". You can see that it says there has been a change of plate. Could it have been written off under the other plate and then had another change to hide that? (I just want to add that I have no reason to believe it's been written off. I was just using that as an example. There is nothing on the car that would make me think it's been involved in a crash.)

It seems as though information is only held against the registration number. Maybe I am just missing something :)

Plate Transfer This registration has been involved in a plate change, please call 0870 118 1630 if further investigation is required.
Scrapped There is no record of this registration being scrapped.
Exported There is no record of this registration being exported.
Stolen There is no record of this registration being stolen.
Stolen & Recovered There is no record of this registration being stolen & recovered.
Insurance Write-off There is no record of this registration being written-off.

The record is supposed to be against the VIN and I suspect that is what is referred to as 'this registration' in the database.
Correctly a number plate change has been recorded into the database register. (registration)

Simply a change of plate, when I did the HPI on mine it showed a private number plate for the first owner.

nothing can be hidden... searches primarily work by chassis number anyway.

Thanks for the info. I feel happier now.

The plate on it now is just a normal one for it's year, so it must have had two changes (at least) in it's life.
