I have not hit over 20mpg in my new (2003) E320 CDi yet..

For the 211 a manual is a must have item. This car has more features than the space shuttle (and probably more computer power)

Most folks would not know that tyre pressures can be the same for different sized tyres, but I'm just waiting for the thread, 'My car has a rough ride feeling' or similar wording

which 19inch wheels do you have, are they OEM I cant tell from your pic?

They are factory order AMG rims. I think they look great on the car.

As they are factory supplied I would hazard a guess that the sticker in the fuel flap will be correct for them.

Duly Noted. Wont happen again...

Regarding the MPG. I had the car checked out by an independent who hooked it up to diagnostics. He found zero errors or problems with the car.

Moreover, the car has returned to normal MPG.

Try drawing a chalk or wax crayon cross across the tyre tread and see where it wears off first.
If it's the edges then they are under-inflated, if it's the centres then they are over-inflated.

FEEDBACK......:D

I'm going out to play with my tool(s) in a minute, so...:p

Heh - not had a moment to meter the thing out yet - however it's noticably and measurable faster than it was with the old maf. 1/4 mile now 16.5 instead of 18.5. 0-60 now 8.95 (was over 10) and that's without being brutal.

Seems to be getting quicker as miles go on too!

Yes the 19's are OEM. Although i think the car when ordered came with 18's.

The fuel flap states tyre pressures for 18's. During the course of its tenure, the car had a wheel upgrade to 19's.

Moreover, i put the VIN into that russian site. And the car was ordered with 18's direct from the factory.

What's the mpg now and what happened, did it suddenly come right or was it just in need of a reset after loads of shunting around.?

I think it needed a reset really. The MPG is now around 21-26. Driving like a maniac it never goes below 21mpg. Driving conservately i can get around 25-27mpg.

Before i bought it, the car must have been ragged pretty badly to get an average of 19MPG!

On the motorway today i reached the mid/upper 30's.

I also own a 1.9TDi A4 with the 130bhp PD engine. I easily get 45-50MPG out of it. I think i became way to accustomed to terrific MPG figures.

I also had a diagnostic with the local Indy this morning. He found no problems whatsoever. Told me the car is in tip-top condition.

I am happy. Loving the car, and i think i have finally found the "one" as they say!

Almost every car I have ever had has had a tyre pressure chart which shows the pressure for all tyre combinations that the car could possibly come with from the factory. It usually meant as diameters increased & profiles became lower, the pressure increased accordingly.

Mercedes appear to be different, because they only list the tyre size the car left the factory with and its pressure range. The same car with different tyre sizes leaves the factory with different plates showing the pressures.

A few on this forum will tell you the pressure is the same whatever tyre size you have, television was the biggest culprit & in my opinion this information is simply wrong. If you have a larger diameter, lower profile tyre than stated inside the fuel lid, I would increase the pressure by a couple of PSI & see how it feels.

Is 27mpg a good figure? I know my car doesn't compare but if I drive like a looney it will not drop below 33/35, average driving is 45mpg, driving like Guido and I get 50+

Considering I may be tempted by a E320CDi or C320CDi next, I'm not so sure now if that's what is to be expected
