2009 Jaguar XF 3.0D 'S'
Hi,

Tried to get a deal on a new 'old' E-class but both p/ex valuation and discount (on a new run out model) was low...Dealer didn't try too hard..so have just signed up for

Jaguar XF 3.0 Diesel V6 S Premium Luxury in metallic lunar grey (inc 10% discount :D):

271BHP, 600 Nm torque, CO2 @ 170 = tax band E (£170), 0-60 in 5.9 (probably not) and combined 42 mpg (probably not) :bannana: :bannana: but overall pretty impressive figures :D

How did it go? Took it for a few hours test drive....engine is excellent, almost petrol like and almost imperceptibly into high 2 figures mph ;) ;) ...must be careful  but brakes were very good

Lots of standard goodies: Sat nav, leather: seats/dash/door sills etc., auto (6-speed 'smooth as silk' ZF...no cf low speed Merc 7-g tronic 'jerkiness')/sport mode (includes engine response etc.)/winter mode etc. and keyless start/entry and 20" wheels plus Jaguar 'handshake' ('beating heart' start button, rotating vents, rising gear selector, blue ambient lighting etc....more things to go wrong )

I have no complaints with either of my ML's nor the Dealer but it was time to 'down size'.....and, coincidentally ;), becoming significantly more 'green' ;).

Cheers,

I think Hawk's post was more a pun on the ownership of Jaguar than a recommendation to Dieter...

Really nice cars! I've been tempted myself. The new 3 litre engine is a real peach and now in high demand.
Worked for Jaguar racing Le Mans cars for many years so there is still an emotional pull....when MB were the opposition.....and Jaguar was British:o

Very Jealous, but I'm not sure if I don't find the new (top of the range) Mondeo slightly better looking from the exterior?

Colour makes a big difference. This looks a lot better IMHO:

If ever a car traded on its history more than the present or future, its Jaguar.
The XF is all old technology and nothing more than a 30 year old basic design in a new suit.
If you go by looks alone, then its fine, but if you scratch the surface................

Stands by for a severe flaming..................

This is like playing Trump cards :)

If it was, I think the Jag would have the Mondy Hands down on every other category :).... apart from Price, but I don't remember that every being a category :o

Ouch!

I don't agree with that. Jaguar at last offer genuine alternatives the German Big 3 and do produce some desirable models. This new diesel will be interesting and the 500hp S/C XKR I prefer to the SL. The model they struggle with is the XJ but the new one of those looks different at last. The biggest problem with Jag for me is that I'm 76 years too young for one :D

The daft thing is, if people want to argue about 'old technology', the main propulsion unit of the car is still the 100+ year old combustion engine!!

I say "don't knock it until you've tried it"....tried one - allbeit briefly, at the trackday - I rate it very highly.

Must say I still yearn for the XFR.......one hell of a car for the money..

You will love the car ..a good choice..:thumb:

I presume you mean the carry-over of some panels from the Jag S-Type which was shared with the Lincoln LS?

Its a bit more than some body panels. Under the skin the S type and XF are more or less the same car I believe. The XF is based on the S Type, which by no means is a bad thing.

has the XF even been euro ncaped. If its an old design it may lag behind the german big 3 when you need it the most? I do not know and can't easily check as the office web filter works in weird and mysterious ways.
