Impressed with Indy oil service

Mercedes doesn't use the term "oil service". The car should alternate between A & B services - which in practice are pretty similar in their scope these days (B service used to be a "wheels off" service but they haven't done that for years). Essentially the only additional work on B service is the the pollen filter and key battery is changed.

MB also offer an 'Oil Service Only' service which is neither A nor B and from memory this costs £99, though they won't stamp the book.

If they won't stamp the book you may as well supply your own oil and get it done elsewhere for about £30.

Mb seven year value service -

7 year fixed priced servicing

" Please note that the Value Service does not follow the Manufacturers Recommended Service Schedule and your free Roadside Assistance and 30 years perforation and corrosion warranty will be lost."

Yep.
Mb Oil and filter would cost approx £50.
Backstreet garage would charge approx £50 labour.
Polish car wash £12
£27 is not bad for the additional checks and a mb stamp i would say on a c class.

The Mercedes-Benz Value Service includes
• Full inspection, including:
Visual brake inspection
Check tyres
Check wipers and washers
Check seat belts
Check suspension components
Inspect Poly-V belt
Brake fluid level
Power steering fluid level
Check lights
Re-set service indicator
• Oil and filter change
• Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts[*]
• Free service measures updates
• Free car wash

Was it an oil and filter change or a service? Both are different.

Moral of this story is, find a local trusted indy, save money and receive a better service.

MB's A and B services include several checks above the basic oil change.

In theory this is an 'interim' service that is aimed at those owners who wish to have an additional oil and filter change between scheduled services.

But in reality MB understand that after the warranty period expired many owners are not interested in the inspections and checks that are included with the A and B Services and suffice with just having the engine oil and filter changed instead.

If you go to an Indy specialist, would they do the other inspections /checks or just the oil change? If they don't do the other inspections/checks, would they still stamp the service book for the scheduled service so that the full service history is still intact?

As long as you are happy with the price and the service that you received.......that's all that matters fella...:thumb:

FWIW,had mine serviced today at my Indy. £91 inc VAT. Supplied my own Mobile1 New Life.

They gave it a thorough check. (Rear brake hoses v slightly perished, chip in w/screen, tiny oil leak from a seal at the back of the engine, otherwise in rude health. Jobs for the New Year.) Book's stamped, I've got the left over oil, and everyone's happy.
