Is the Law an Ass?

Likewise I've towed a car that was blocking my garage. It'll get dealt with pretty quickly once it's causing an obstruction on the road. Just don't let anyone see you do it. (Early hours probably favourite ;))

when i complaind over here about a primera blocking/ abandoned on our street, it was the council that came and took it away. i do not know under what powers. maybe you can try them

I think the individual police officer that has decided to give you the brush off should be sacked.

He/she has a duty to the public and this kind of behaviour is exactly why the force have become so hated.

Its not exactly going the extra mile to make a discreet inquiry and resolve the matter now is it? Clearly, he just couldnt be ****d.

sadly that is the case these days with many offices and proffessions. probably everyone is just fed up and cannot be arssssed

Did your Dad enter a competition to win a Porsche?

On a different note, we use the GoJack product for such matters:

http://www.insight-security.com/tra-gojak.htm

A number of years ago, when I was young and foolish, I left my Peugeot 504 (quite a heavy car) slightly blocking an internal road at a holiday camp.

It transpires that the manager of said holiday camp was a rugby player. Phone calls were made. No equipment was required by the manager and the rest of his team to lift said car, which was deposited about 50 yards away in the middle of the tennis court.

I must stress.... it was a long time ago.... I'm much more careful where I park now!

:o

The police have checked the plates, but as its not reported stolen all they will say that its registered to an owner in London. And as its on private property they say they are powerless to act.

Owner may well be abroad on holiday, completely unaware his car has been stolen from the (insecure) multi-storey car park at the airport........

I quite like this method for removing unwanted cars ;) It's not quite the same as the Porsche on your driveway, but proves the point nicely :)

A quick hello from a newbie! A frustrating situation all round. If the authorities won't help, perhaps one of the recovery services could, if you have the facility? It would be important to find out the vehicle owner's status in the matter, before your "friend", who has lost his keys, needs his Porsche recovered from your driveway to a dealership in....?;-) If the owner is guilty, and the police do get invloved, you could remind them it was a civil matter, and is now resolved!

It is probably on false plates and has been abandoned by the "driver" because he got nervous, perhaps when being followed by the police one night. A good way to look legit is to pull onto a driveway of a respectable property.
The car wouldn't necessarily show up as stolen without checking the VIN plate. Many cloned cars are floating around these days.

I would definitely call Plod again and make a formal complaint. They have just announced the "Policing Pledge" and are supposed to be listening to the local people.

What if local "kids" accidently... erm.. firebombed it, and in turn it sort of scorches your garage, block paving etc etc.
Result- you get a garden makeover of this persons insurance company for free!
Why not top it off by calling the BBC's Groundforce/DIY SOS or similar?

Sorted.
As the car was a year old, phoned the Porsche dealership and explained problem, they also refused to give me the owners details, due to data protection, but they did ring her .
Turns out she was going on holiday and took her car round one of our neighbours so she could borrow it. The neighbour said leave it on that drive and I will move it later . The girl went and forgot to leave keys. So Porsche phoned her and she in turn phoned neighbour who went to her house to get spare key.
She must have had a blonde day except she had black hair.
The stupid thing is she didn't even consider puting a note through the door or leave one on the windsceen.
Women never cease to amaze me

If only she knew how close she came to have her car torched, put on its roof, brick walled in, sold on ebay, jacked up.............................. and all the other solutions to this problem.

Get the VIN/Reg and ring an OPC - they should be able to contact the owner using their records.

So my suggestion wasn't helpful then ;).

Stats it was very helpful but I was off yesterday from work to do some jobs down there and didn't check my emails before I left.

Glad to hear there was a simple (OK, a very simple) explanation.

Not if the OP prints off this thread and posts it through his neighbours letterbox :)

Wish someone would lend me their Porsche when they're going off on holiday....:D

At least , next time you have an extra car kicking around and nowhere to park it , you'll know the neighbour won't mind you leaving it on HER drive !
