Is the W204 C63 a one trick pony?

I just wanted to pick the brains of some of the C63 owners on the forum. I mean absolutely no disrespect and this is not meant to annoy anyone. I am considering (along with quite a few other options) a W204 C63 (would have to be facelift for me) but am a little concerned about quite a few point about the car, probably the largest of which is that it could be a one trick pony, does anyone feel that this is the case? I'm sure current owners will disagree but I wonder if anyone who has had one and sold it could shed any light on this point?

I am also concerned about build quality and the lack of options available, please feel free to make your comments below, many thanks in advance for your input.

Separate to other aspects, a proper big cube n/a V8 will be resigned to history soon :(.

A bucket list power unit perhaps?

Sorry I meant that it has a big engine to offer and not much else? Again no offence intended to any owners. It's a question rather than a statement.

Big Engine, Great Brakes, Quality build ( despite some moaners on forums) Good suspension, precise steering, looks good, practical, room for luggage,

I would say one of the best all round cars ever made. Power, luxury , discreet and that badge on the bonnet. Doesn't look out place parked outside the Dorchester or in moss side driven by your local drug dealer.
As John says , one of the last amazing n/a engines made. I reckon a good one will be worth money one day.

Having owned the C63 (2012 Coupe) For 3 months now and 1500 miles completed I love it. In comfort mode driving in traffic or towns the 6.2L engine is almost unnoticeable. It's smooth, quiet (ish) and comfy. It has all the comforts that I require, DAB radio, AC, Sat Nav, Bluetooth iPhone connection for calls and media & heated seats etc.

In Sports, Sports+ and Full manual paddle shift mode it becomes a different car. For me when I reach the open country roads and select these modes the radio goes off and the engine noise is all I need to keep the smile on my face! I don't think I will ever get bored of the sounds it makes!

I don't use the car for commuting to work however.

MPG is the only downside of the C63 ownership but it's expected and definitely worth the money you spend on V-Power for the thrill it delivers.
My average MPG results have been 11-15mpg when in sports modes, town driving 15-19mpg and 24-27mpg when in comfort mode on the motorway at 70mph.

I was not suggesting the car is pants. Perhaps I should have said a little more. Having had an E55K as my last car I can't help but feel there will be some gaps in going to a C63, along with the fact that the other cars I am considering are E63 5.5bt, W221 S65, 997 911 C4S along with a couple of other potential vehicles. I do like my ''options'' and feel that the C63 is ''just'' all about the engine and I worry that the novelty may wear off if I only have that to entertain and cosset me. The other bigger Mercs have more ''stuff'' to play with and I swore to myself I would never buy another car without keyless entry and go. I hope that this may shed a little more light on my original question?

Your old E55K will feel like chalk and cheese compared to the 6.2 the two are completely different natured engines; the '55K (as you know) goes right through the Rev range whereas the 6.2 doesn't really get going until 3500-4000rpm to the point of you're in license-losing territory.

The idea of fitting a big V8 into a little car like a C-Class is what it's really about though, and if you're after a bit more premium fit and finish it'll always struggle against some of those mentioned like the S65 etc Ultimately it's a compact executive saloon that's overdosed on Viagra.

I agree, it's just a shame that you can't option a 'C' like you can an 'S' and have the same quality, what a shame.

Mate, you'll probably find that the C63 is a little more luxurious and optioned than your previous cars listed in your signature.

You can also get a big dirty V8 in an S class if that's what you're after.:thumb:

One trick pony or not... its staying with me for a long long time...
Grew up wanting an R34. That gone out of the window as not many left unless imports.
Then wanting an M3 E46 during my youth days.
Had a W204 C180K for 6 years... found out about C63.
Bought one 4 months ago, major relief! Finnaly found the car I have always wanted!

That's as maybe, but its no B180d Sport Auto is it? :bannana:

Ant. :D

Really? Your main criteria is keyless entry.

Try a Kia perhaps?

Did I say it was my main criteria? I tried to start this as pleasantly as possible to avoid comments like yours.
