Is the W204 C63 a one trick pony?

So whats the verdict mate ?? You gonna buy one ? ( directed at OP)…..

I'm not sure, I have to say I have not enjoyed the experience of this thread to be honest, and not that it would stop me buying one if that is what I decide to do, but I have to say it has reduced the shine maybe just a tiny bit.

I'm sure I will get another slagging for being a big girls blouse now and told to dry my eyes again etc. I am more than capable of being an unpleasant person but, you know what, most of the time I choose not to be as I like to treat people how I would like to be treated. Not directed at you Steve.

If you're wrestling with the stereotype of a C63 owner being painted on to you, you're probably better off going for an E/CLS class or above, aimed at the more venerable driver.

Trick 1 Start Up
Trick 2 Sport + Mode
Trick 3 C Mode
Trick 4 Seats
Trick 5 Build quality
Trick 6 Comand
Trick 7 Five up with luggage
Trick 8 Understated looks
Trick 9 Noise
Trick 10 Ease of use

Etc.......

Surely every C Class can tick most of these boxes?

I`,m like you mate. I join forums for help, advice and a few laughs.
If I get a keyboard warrior having a go at me, I generally ignore them.
Going back to the car. I can only offer my personal opinion. Having had lots of cars in the last 10-15 years or so, there are some that I regret selling and some that I don`t. This C63 Saloon that I have is an absoulute hoot ! Defo one of the best choices I have ever made.:bannana:

I think you should test drive one, and I'd say that will make the decision for you.

I asked similar questions here on my sanity over purchasing a C63, but got nothing but positive comments, so maybe every one was in a good mood that day :D

I've only had my C63 for 5 months, but absolutely love the car.
Puts a smile on my face every morning when it starts from cold, OK sometimes its a bit of a cringe depending on how early it is, but most times its a smile.

Overall its an absolutely bonkers car when you desire, and a totally sedate car when you're feeling tired, but will spring to life at the drop of a hat.

I had a CLK55 prior to this, but the C63 is in a different league.
I certainly would not allow your feedback here to put you off.

Well said Shaun .

Question to OP, what type of driving experience are you anticipating from a C63?
My current car I had various ideas and an expectation the car would deliver certain attributes, to be fair it didn't live up to many of the values owners had wrote or what a mates friend was told by someone. Its subjective and quite a personal experience, hence many of the blinkered reviews I read.
I purchased and haven't regretted my choice as it does everything I need and an awful lot more than I expected, it took a while to bond after my previous car and I can now compare with a clear idea of facts.
The cars you've short listed are quite different, the Porsche and Merc are very different cars and are so easy to compare due to the fact there are so many differences, V8 vs flat 6 for one.
If you haven't already taken a test drive in the C63 then you'll not know if it's a comfortable fit.
Oh, for the record I went from V8 AMG to 911 flat 6 because it was such a polar change.

Very fair and accurate analysis.
I had a 997 C2S a few years back, and although it was a hoot, it`s a completely different drive to a V8.
Personally, I think V8`s are best balanced engines available to any car.
But hey....what do I know ?

Sorry to hear this. Don't let a few people tar your opinion of the general consensus here. Although I have to say, I got the opposite feedback from you here. This car is having more appeal to me. It looks like those who have had the ownership experience have found it rewarding.
I'm just hesitant about the running cost but then that's just my personal financial circumstances.

I would expect the C63 to be a bit of a nutter machine to be honest, I like the idea of it being quite an achievement to get to your destination alive. I have not driven one but I do hear they are a hoot. I do have reservations about things I have mentioned before. The reality is I won't get everything I want from 1 car, I need several, so I might keep the Focus estate to tick the ''taking things to the dump'' box.

I love the looks of the C63 I think its really lovely but it is also quite close now to E63tt money (for a facelift C63) I much prefer the interior on the facelift W204 is just looks a good chunk more premium. I can't help loving the E class theme as I have had a W124 and a W211 and loved them, although they do have their faults as most cars do. What I would like in an ideal world would be the C63 with the fit, finish and options of a S65, or an S65 that handled like a C63 (I'm imagining the handling lol). I like the idea of the 997 as I have driven at length the C2S and the Turbo in manual and auto formats (God the Auto was terrible). Not particularly practical by comparison the the Mercs but always felt special and a bit of an event, there is something lovely about purpose built machines that don't have any ''normal or everyday'' versions.

Thank you to all who have offered up useful and supportive comments.

I know what you mean about the refinement v size. I love the SL's for their refinement but just a size to big for me so I'm saving up for an SLK V8. I will sacrifice the size and weight for compactness but still having a V8.

Seriously, go and drive one.

Will be pretty obvious if it's the car for you or not.

I agree.
I suspect if he drives one, then it'll get bought.
