Is the W204 C63 a one trick pony?

Not odd at all, I'm asking C63 owners past and present for their opinions, not to have my questions criticized. I think it is fairly clear from what I have written that I don't dislike the car, in fact quite the opposite, I really like it very much but have some concerns like I do with other cars that I am considering. I feel that it is normal practice to have reservations about buying any car and caution should be exercised, I'm sure there are people out there that go at it like a bull in a china shop but the is not my mode of operation.

Why do some people have to criticize others questions? Really, people actually spend time on this practice.......If you think my thread is S**t please leave those of us who want to talk about it in peace and comment on things that interest you and you have something valuable to add. I have seen this quite a lot lately with people being unpleasant and unhelpful and generally upsetting the apple cart. I just don't get it. I thought we were here to help each other and be pleasant?

Hope that's not directed at me? If it is, dry your eyes.

If you've got concerns about something relatively 'big' like the purchase of a specific car at this price point, then (genuine advice coming up) it really isn't the car for you.

I believe the only 'concerns' I had over buying mine was whether it was to be a Coupe or a Saloon.

I drove one, loved it, and bought one. I don't think I've ever considered it to be a one trick pony. Have you driven one? Perhaps you need to drive one. The internet is rather famous for forming opinions without experience, and often the proof is in the pudding, so to speak.

This could be a first for this forum...C63 owners (not all of you) ganging up on someone who already owns an AMG but just wants opinions from others who own the specific model...the C63.

I know my answer...stay away from that particular AMG model...know what I mean?;)

I know what you mean in terms of is it just that engine.......

To be honest yes and no in my opinion the W204 C63 has something a lot of other potentially better cars in other dynamics, whether it be comfort, handling whatever......... The C63 has SOUL.

There are not many cars in the world that actually have that and its mostly dominated by that engine, the noise and its constant ability to break traction in my mind which makes it something special. I have genuinely never had a car that puts a smile on your face so much.

Driving for me and others no doubt is about a sensory experience, yes there are faster cars, yes there are ones that handle better and yes there are ones that are more comfortable. The one thing all C63 owners have is what I call that smirk or smile, no matter how bad a day I am having one turn of the key it goes, every time you touch the throttle you smile. What you realise is whoever decided to put that engine into a practical C Class was a genius.

Its a car that gets so many nods from admirers and I echo the usual is it really a 6.3 or the one that gets me every time you are in a fuel station OOOOOOOOOOOOO I bet that uses a lot of fuel...... (No it runs on fresh air what do you think :wallbash:)

What it comes down to is the way it makes you feel no matter how you drive it, for a car to have SOUL it needs to be flawed in some respects because anything that is too perfect almost seems to be boring....

Having driven the new BMW M4 I thought yeh lovely car, but it didn't feel special to me it was almost too perfect, too stale and as I said to the salesman its an expensive 335i in my mind as having driven one it didn't feel much different...

Its all a personal preference thing

Unbelievable.

Grown men taking offence at a perceived slight upon their cars, whatever next? You looking at my pint?

Totally off topic but I saw new M3 (saloon) today on the M6. Looked excellent so much better than the two door M4. The pumped up arches and four doors really suited it. Shame it has a soulless engine.

If u have To ask these Qs then maybe a C63 isn't for u...

Not a one trick pony by any means. Insanely large V8 which belongs in a supercar, beautiful front seats (coupe), bulging arches and the meanest quad pipes on any saloon car I can think of. What's to question?

Handles well, reliable, looks good, whole list of optional extras available but most people just don't spec them.

If I was in ur shoes and could afford it Id place an order on the new W205 C63 coupe and spec it exactly as I want it, inc keyless go...

I would not partake in such behavior, that is why I went out of my way to try to explain my question. My concern is that coming from my E55K I would miss certain things like the aforementioned ''keyless'', not my number one option but something I really loved and am finding frustrating not having now. Add to this the fact that two of the cars I am considering have a far bigger pool of options than the C class range offered. I would like things like heated and vented seats and distronic which I can't have in the C. I love the idea of something more nimble and ridiculous like the C63, I love the small car massive engine concept. I am however very picky and bothered by fit and finish, I wish the attention to detail and quality were the same all across the range. Why do you have to have a bloody massive car for the best stuff? Big does not always mean better.

The 63 doesn't have heated seats? Surprising.

Thank you for seeing and saying. I don't understand why some are so defensive and in turn offensive toward me for just asking a question. I could criticize some points on all of the cars I've had along with pointing out their plus points. Just because I own or owned it doesn't me it's flawless, it's not like I built it and would take offence at my manufacturing skills. Like someone said on here, they do have their faults and to him its part of the character of the car, that's cool, I was just hoping for some of you guys to point out flaws that you have experienced (and to be fair some of you have and I thank you for that).

As you can see I own a couple of them.

When you start the engine and hear it the rest is not so important.

Some called it a £30k with a big V8..... very harsh... at least a £40k car with the best V8 since the DFV.

I love old Escorts.

NOBODY would say "oh you got the RS2000.... isn't that just a 1.1 Pop with a Cortina engine? Should have got a 2.0 GL Cortina and enjoyed the cassette player and petrol flap!"

PM if you like.

....but true....it's not like they've dismantled a CL to use especially...

The only AMG's designed from the ground up in recent years have been the SLS and the GT.

Take it as a criticism if you will, but it's part of the attraction of AMG saloons/estates to me; that they share 90% of their DNA with the standard base car and (besides the sound) can be classed as Q-Cars.

Trick 1 Start Up
Trick 2 Sport + Mode
Trick 3 C Mode
Trick 4 Seats
Trick 5 Build quality
Trick 6 Comand
Trick 7 Five up with luggage
Trick 8 Understated looks
Trick 9 Noise
Trick 10 Ease of use

Etc.......

If you read my post I was agreeing just upped it to £40k.... have you seen he cost of COMAND ;)

Anyway the C63 has significant development (much done when the CLK Black was developed).

Including widening and moving forward the front axle.

I'm sure it's the clk black suspension setup.
